After a great day of golf, my colleagues and I cleaned up and headed to Ponto Lago at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort for dinner—and what followed was hands down the most luxurious dining experience I’ve ever had. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that Ponto Lago sets an exceptionally high standard. The atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Thankfully, one of my colleagues is a true “foodie” and guided us through ordering several dishes I had never tried before. Every plate that arrived was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Our waiter was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. You could genuinely tell that the staff takes great pride in delivering the highest level of service and ensuring every guest feels well cared for. I was especially impressed by the Pork Belly Al Pastor and the Market Fish—both were phenomenal and among the best dishes I’ve ever had. And while I’m certainly blessed that I didn’t have to cover the bill, that only made it easier to fully relax and enjoy what turned out to be the greatest dinner experience of my life. A sincere thank you to the entire Ponto Lago team for an unforgettable evening. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

One of my favorite restaurants in North County to go with my family.
The ease of free valet parking with validation from the restaurant sets the tone. The restaurant is spacious, if we need to bring our stroller with our 3 littles. They always have ample space (even when we have a large group) and get us seated quickly even without reservations. The team has always given spectacular friendly service.
The food is delicious. My favorite is the octopus and my kids love the Mac and cheese. The freebies are always a plus too, they have yummy arepas to start off the meal.

Delicious! Fantastic service topped off with an incredible meal. Alejandro knows his menu and orchestrated flawless service as our server. Thanh kept our water glasses full and was super friendly.
We’ve enjoyed many meals here and 1 buffet breakfast. We hope to be back again soon.

Lots of seafood on the menu. I had Scallops and my friend had a seafood plate. Can’t name everything we had. I’m not exactly a goumet. But It was all delicious. The presentation was very artistic. And the seating by the window with the sunset was a bonus. No hesitation on a return to this eatery.

We were impressed with the execution of each dish and the elevated ingredients. Meats were cooked with so much flavor and at the perfect temperature, sauces and moles exquisite. Our server Norma was incredible and made the best recommendations on entrees and wine, she was so knowledgeable and took amazing care of us. The wine list had so many diverse selections from Valle de Guadalupe.
Big thanks to the Park Hyatt Aviara for offering childcare and a fun interactive cocktail class. The entire evening was an incredible experience!

Dinner is great. Our waiter Alejandro is awesome and when I asked about the dessert pineapple cascara, he explained it perfectly with all the details and it was such a wonderful sweet treat. The guacamole with green salsa is so fresh with layers of flavor, the three cuts of pork roasted is succulent, and the squash rich and creamy.
Breakfast was fine as well but not as special as the dinner.

Food was 5 stars. Service was one star by the primary waiter, and 2-3 by his second. Main server came 3 times the whole night. Took the app order, waited until they were completely done before coming back and then we did the main order and never came to our table the entire time dinner was on the table until it had been cleared. No one made sure water cups were full. Had to ask after 10-15 minutes after being empty. Didn’t remove empty dishes or empty cocktail glasses for quite some time, or until asked. Had to ask multiple times for table to be wiped or water filled before getting it. Empty tables directly to the right and left of us were dirty from before we sat down to after we left. Ordered drinks before main entree (from a guy we flagged down), one came out in the middle, the other after the main was fully eaten. Would return for the food, hoping the service gets fixed. Oh, and the restaurant was 1/3 full… so they weren’t slammed.

We found this place and ate here the other night for the first time on a Thursday for our anniversary and were almost the only ones there near closing time. We had uncommonly exceptional service from Norma and everyone else we interacted with. The food and drinks were also exceptional. I highly recommend the whole wood fired fish, mushrooms, and churros. Also, valet was free and they were beyond nice as well. I post reviews usually on food alone, which I give 5 stars here for, but their service was really notable as well.

A dreamy coastal date-night kind of spot where the oysters are fresh, the chardonnay is Cakebread, and the seafood is as gorgeous as it is flavorful. The ceviche could’ve used more chips (and a bowl, please!), but the smoky crudo and grilled octopus more than made up for it. Finished with warm churro rolls and dipping sauces that felt like a hug. Fancy without being stuffy. I’ll be back—with a date or a dinner-worthy client.
