First time back to a Ponderosa Steakhouse in years and I must say it wasn’t too bad! Best dish was the mashed potatoes with beef tips…and the pasta salads were good. They have plenty of desserts and a great cup of coffee.

Service was great too, drink never went empty!
Bumping a three star to a four ****

Great job!

Stopped in with a coworker on our way to Madison, from Green Bay, WI. For us, this is an “iconic” place. Green Bay, WI had 2 locations (east and west) even going back 35+ years, I can remember the original Ponderosa in GB with the “old western look” where, you would order, and even pass by the kitchen with your tray on the way to the Salad bar.

Anyway, it’s been gone a long time so when the opportunity presented – we had to take it. Sure, many of you feel that “oh, this is bad, that’s bad.” who cares. For some, it’s a look back into time, a period of nostalgia. Can you find better food elsewhere? Sure, but, we were there for the experience. The dinner roles are a great example, they are just like I remember them. So, that was that, the chicken the same, the fruit – it has a Ponderosa style prep. Who knows what that magic prep, is, but it’s iconic.

From stupidly simple stuff, walking in and seeing the old Panasonic cash-registers, to the old menu board (yes, we actually took photos.) The selection at the salad bar was good, and it was kept full. It was nice to “see that old place again.” — Just tonight, we remarked – you can’t go back and see a Chi Chi’s restaurant if you tried. In our state, Bonanza was also a fun ole place; my childhood existed frequenting that place almost every single Sunday of my life. The old “chicken tenders and freshly squeezed lemon on it.” (odd indeed, but it was my thing.)

So, there you have it folks. If you are in to looking back, or just enjoying lunch this place will take care of both of those things. Wish we had one closer too. Thanks Ponderosa for making our trip a bit more iconic.

We love this place! We are from Green Bay and stopped here on the way back home. This is the closest location… 93 miles from GB. Our server was very polite and helpful. Tip your servers well everyone! Especially the ones that go that extra mile! Kirstin was the best!

I can say this for the buffet, absolutely deserves 5 stars!

Everything I ate was amazing, and they switch some foods out every once in a while so you can try other things too. You need to wear a mask unless you are eating at your table, and they have gloves you need to wear when up at the buffet.

The Mac&Cheese is quite delicious, and perfect for combining with other foods such as carrots and corn, as well as their chicken strips. You can make an excellent “pasta” with MacNcheese as a base, they have shredded cheese too.

Mashed potatoes are also great for combining with other foods, but be careful it’s very hot, dont burn yourself.

Those are some of the things I tried, but all of it was tasty. Everything else on the buffet looked great. Also, they do have ice cream, it is on the counter opposite of the treats and desserts.

Apparently they make omelets before your eyes, you choose what you want to put on it. On the counter opposite of the desserts.

Now, as for the entrées, I didn’t have any, and one reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because I had the buffet, no entries, so I can’t say much about them other than on the menu they looked very good. It was a hard choice between those and the buffet but they let me look at the buffet before actually choosing.

If I go there again, I am definitely going to try an entrée.

BTW the buffet also has breakfast foods after lunch…

Waitress was nice, but obviously shy and not outgoing. Food was very poor. Most everything had been sitting for a very long time, and tasted awful.
And the toy machine gave my child a empty container if that doesn’t explain the experience tonight.
Drove 60 miles to enjoy some ponderosa. Dont think I will anymore.

I have been here many times, Saturday I was very disappointed, The waitress gave me my soda and silverware, After my glass was half empty she asked me if I wanted more soda. That was the last time I saw her. I actually had to get my own soda. The other waitress was very busy on her side of the dinning room. She was a good worker, I guess I sat on the wrong side. I only left a 10% tip, and she didn’t deserve that. I normally leave at least 25 to 30% tip. Loved the BBQ ribs tonight.. SO good.

This is a place that hasn’t changed much in 30 years. Very reasonable. You know what you’re getting into here. Overall, the quality of the food is pretty good for a buffet joint, and the selection is large. With selection comes staleness, though. Several things were past the point where they should’ve been out in my opinion. Opinions vary. Service was good (but generic) and things were edible.. but it wasn’t 5 stars for me.

Had the buffet – Always a nice eating experience with so many food choices, and buffet is kept well stocked & hot food is kept hot. GREAT desserts. The Key Lime bars were DEElish!! Very clean facility & friendly attentive staff. Wish I lived closer because I’d eat here more often.

It’s a nice place. I think they should post to use new gloves that the customers should get a new pair of gloves every time they use the buffet. I saw people using the same pair every time they went up. Hopefully this will not be the norm and we can go back to the way it was before.
