Ponchos Tacos
Ponchos Taco, an authentic family-owned Mexican restaurant located in Baltimore, MD. Best tacos, burritos, and pupusas in the area.

I bought 4 pupusas thinking they were on the smaller side. Noooope. Huge. Fresh. Delicious. Hot chips straight out of the fryer. Agua de Jamaica is superb. Can’t wait to go back.

I ordered a torta which is supposed to come with jalapeños. Came with one tiny sliver of jalapeño so I ask if I can get a little more. I hear the cook in the back talking shit because I asked for more. Food is great but cook needs a better attitude. I could hear her and understand her talking shit in Spanish. All for a little bit of jalapeños. You can see in the picture the tiny piece of jalapeños. Last time I checked the menu says jalapeños. PLURAL

I recently had an incredible experience at Pancho Tacos that truly impressed me. The food was exceptional, bursting with authentic flavors that transported me straight to Mexico. Each dish was expertly prepared, from the vibrant tacos to the rich mole. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through, making every bite a delight.
Equally impressive was the service. The staff at Pancho Tacos was not only attentive but also genuinely friendly, going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They offered great recommendations and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience that I can’t wait to enjoy again.

Poncho’s Tacos never disappoints! Their birria tacos and carne asada are insanely good — fresh, juicy, and packed with authentic flavor. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. Plus, the music selection is bomb, giving the whole place a fun, chill vibe. Definitely one of the best taco spots around!

Ordered from the Kiosk. Which was simple ordeal. Once we seated it took longer to get our drinks than our food. Steak tacos were 6/10 due to overcooked pieces of meat. The carnitas were also 6/10. And the barbacoa tostada was a low 4/10. The Horchata was too sweet. Only good part was the Melon agua fresca and the palletas.

***UPDATE*** Still the best in Federal Hill*** Excellent Mexican food. Very clean restaurant. Corner location on Light Street is sunny and bright. Friendly staff. Great selection of different Mexican dishes. Everything is fresh and prepared to order. We had the chicken burrito and it was perfect; hot, fresh and delicious with quality ingredients. Same for the chicken tacos with excellent corn tortillas. Love seeing a new small business succeed. Quality matters!

You feel welcome from the moment you enter. The care and service they give you is the best. They take care of every detail. The place is always clean, there is always good music, the food is the best and there is always someone who takes care of you with love. If you want to fill your soul come to Ponchos Tacos. 10/10 no one matches them in the area. Thank you, this is my home

Everything was amazing. I ordered 3 birria tacos and a chicken/cheese pápusa. My partner ordered the Taco Tuesday special of 3 tacos (steak) with rice and beans. We also ordered chips/ and guacamole to share. The food was PERFECT. Everything was flavorful and decently priced. The environment was clean and the staff were very friendly. If you’re in the Federal Hill area and want some authentic Mexican cuisine, stop by to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. We definitely be frequent customers.

Stopped by on our night out and got a few tacos (Al pastor and Camaron) and a few tamales (verdes puerco, rojo puerco, rajas y queso). The tacos were excellent, really well portioned and with the nice smokiness and flavor of the grill. The tamales all had a great texture, came out nice and hot, and were well balanced in flavor. Definitely a must on taco Tuesday. Don’t miss out on the aguas frescas especially the horchata!

TL;DR for ppl who are too busy to read my essay below: JUST GO ALREADY OK. And make sure to eat a paleta for dessert and take sweet fried plantains to go to eat while walking on the Light St. and for love’s sake, make sure to get a tamale to take home and reheat for the next day’s meal (tip on IG on how to properly reheat tamale in microwave)
First of all, allow me to start this review by saying I am a picky eater from SoCal, the place for best tacos on the US West Coast.
I have been to Clavel and several other places in Baltimore, but I was always disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, Clavel is pretty yummy, I just don’t think a taco has a right to be like $5 each like what the heck.
This was a stop after I had eaten a full meal at the other place so I was super full to the brim and just went for funsies because I was like I have a feeling they are authentic and when I stepped into the store, I KNEW I HAD TO EAT SMTH WHO CARES THAT MY DRESS IS DIGGING INTO MY STOMACH.
I got a tamale which was $3.50 so reasonable so love it cuz I can’t make tamales at home haha
I got a paleta and it was soooooo goooood (check my insta sincerefoodiemia to see what flavor I got cuz there is a lot hehe)
And my friend got the fried sweet plantain for only $5 and they have such a heaping amount and those were sooooo goood
I am def coming back to try their tacos like I love this place sm
The lady at the cashier at around 7:45 pm was sooooo nice and answered all my questions about the menu thank you ur so patient
Def coming back. Highly recommend, my favorite AUTHENTIC Mexican food spot in Baltimore
