The subs here are incredible! We stopped by twice during our trip because it was so great the first time. I don’t think you could get a bad sub at this place. The bread was incredible and we will absolutely be back whenever we are in town again.

Poma’s is the best. I recommend the roast beef, provolane, grilled peppers and onions on garlic bread, au just on the side. In the 70’s, sandwiches were $3.50. Three generations have run the shop. The food has always been 1st rate. I miss going inside. Damn covid. Years ago they had slabs of spunomi wrapped in wax paper. Discontinued due to the boys behind the counter gobbling up the profits.
You gotta ❤️ garlic.!!

Best sandos in OB, and their garlic bread is out of this world. Portions are huge and everything on the menu is affordable. Can’t beat the pricing. Staff is super friendly. They are always very sweet to my dog, and go above and beyond in the customer service department. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out! Foxtrot says “thank you for the treats!”

First time here and based on a few reviews, I dropped by. Roast beef with au jus can be hit or miss with many places. Philippe in LA is the standard by which I go by and Poma was very close. It’s definitely a bigger portion size which is a great value for the price. I’d go without the mayo next time. Service good and beach vibe always chill. I’d go back.

I haven’t been there since the ’80s, when I lived in one of those cottages at the foot of the pier and the place was run by a very cool dude from the East Coast named Leonard, but I’ve heard the place is still as good as ever. I’ll be there in November to check it out.
Update: Went back after all these years. Leonard has passed on, alas, but his son has taken over and carries on with the family tradition. The food is as good as ever, and there are now a couple of tables outside where you can enjoy it in the warm California sunshine. Highly recommended!

In the mood for an Italian sub and Poma’s hit the spot. Super casual place in OB. Score a picnic table in the shade for best atmosphere. Lots of sights and sounds. The smell of Italian sauce as you walk to the window only increases the anticipation. You’ll never go wrong with a hot Torpedo with added onions. Also Mexican Sprite and Coke. Will be back. 10 out of 10.
