Delicious diner-style American cuisine?
Cute decor reminiscent of a small, sleepy surf town?
Am I the new protagonist in a Hallmark film?
Yes! (Not really sshh.) And I’ve only got 30 days to save the local something or other before a greedy developer comes in to make everything into a parking lot!
Anywho, food was great. Prices are comparable to a simpler time in history when the world hadn’t quite gone so topsy turvey. I’ll be back.
When they cooled, the boxes felt soggy and they looked sunken. I cut into one and the custard is broken, not firm, and falling off the fork. The pie crust is soggy and wet on the bottom. It is inedible. And they charged me almost $37 for this sloppy mess. Very disappointing as I live far away and can’t go back and show them what I have to throw out.
If you ever find yourself at Polly’s Pies in Huntington Beach, do yourself a favor and pray you land in Miriam’s section. I’m convinced she’s not just a server — she’s part magician, part mind-reader, and part hospitality superhero.
From the moment she walked up to the table, the energy shifted. She greeted us like she was genuinely happy we were there (a rare talent these days), and somehow managed to be warm, funny, attentive, and lightning-fast all at once. Drinks stayed full without us even noticing she refilled them. Special requests? She remembered every single one without writing anything down — and nailed them.
What really sets Miriam apart is her presence. She has that natural gift where she makes you feel like you’re her only table even when she’s clearly running the entire dining room with grace and zero stress. She checks in at exactly the right moments, never intrusive, always helpful, always upbeat. And the recommendations? Spot on. She convinced us to try a dessert we weren’t planning on ordering… and now we’re planning our next trip around it.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Miriam elevates the whole Polly’s Pies experience. Great food becomes extraordinary when you pair it with service like hers. If management is reading this: whatever you’re doing to keep her, keep doing it. And if you’re a guest: request Miriam. Seriously. Your day will be better for it.
Five stars isn’t enough — she deserves her own category.
