It’s nice to see that the place is still standing. After 6 years of traveling all over the world, I’ve never been to another restaurant that really water my mouth whenever I reminisce about Maryland.
I grew up here, I worked at the nearby medical offices on Rockville Pike. Every lunch, id walk to this restaurant rain, shine, or sleet and order practically the same thing. A half chicken, Yucca, and Plantains. I knew the owner, he knew me as well. I told him my stories of my travels through the Peruvian Amazons, the dry highlands of Arequipa, and the coastal fishing villages in Paracas. It was truly one of my favorite experience.
As for the food, it’s not a five star restaurant, nor it has won any awards, or gain perfect ratings on Google Maps. It’s a restaurant that you go to for lunch. It’s hearty, warm, cozy meal that to me, it’s perfect.
I hope you give them a try and understand their flavors.

Decent place to grab a bite to eat. Portions are good for the price. Menu is diverse and dishes ordered were prepared to order. Had the chicken burrito and a couple of pupusas. Plenty of parking out front and seating inside.

Sent my Mom here excited to try el pollo real for the first time…No one helped Us, lady looked at us then turned her back towards Us. She never turned around to greet us. I will never return WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!! AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!

This was my first time at El Pollo and I will be back. I ordered online on a Sunday afternoon and picked up. The food was ready when it was estimated to be (the timeline was longer vs other pollo places, but I think it’s worth it). The yuca fries were fresh out of the fryer and probably the best I’ve ever had. My kids enjoyed a quesadilla, and we also ordered a whole chicken, yucca, black beans and rice. I also picked up 2 flan, which were great, and I had a premade sangria as I was waiting. All food was great. The sangria was sweet for me, but that is typical. The service was polite and helpful. Give them a try before the other local pollo places for a change. Note: you get 3 sauces- green, orange and yellow.
