Moving reviews over from Yelp and this was originally written in 2016. Interesting that my first time eating Poke was in Louisville, Kentucky. That said, I was pretty happy with the whole experience.

I took the whole family plus the wife’s cousin’s daughter. If I were better at genealogy I would be able to actually define that relationship…but none of that has anything to do with raw fish.

As far as raw fish…I had tuna, salmon and (not raw) octopus in my poke bowl. I also had every one of the available vegetables with the exception of jalapenos because those little bastards and I don’t see eye-to-eye anymore. Top all of that with some citrus-soy ponzu and you’ve got my lunch completely detailed. I found everything fresh and really enjoyed the whole experience. I liked the combination of flavors and textures in what I was served. I’m sure there is better poke to be found but probably not in Louisville.

A couple of quick notes…

The rice was warm but would have been better if it had been closer to room temperature.

I would like to see them offer ice water in addition to bottled water.

Pokehana is a hidden gem in downtown Louisville! The food is outstanding & the people are friendly & efficient. The ingredients are always fresh & tasty. Lots of healthy options. There are a few tables to dine in, but carry out is common. Ordering online is easy & convenient. One of my favorite places. Highly recommend.

I was so excited to see a poke place while visiting Louisville and I’m so glad I visited. I got the Ahi Poke bowl and a miso soup, the tuna was fresh and the flavors balanced perfectly. It’s definitely a visit next time you’re in town!

I stopped here for an early dinner to go. It wasn’t busy and was greeted warmly. The gentleman who helped me guided me through building my own Large Bowl. I got the spicy tuna, salmon, and the octopus. I’ve never had octopus and was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. The spicy mayo and poke sauce were excellent sauces. All in all the service was excellent and the food was delicious and fresh.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time. Their hours don’t mesh well with my schedule, but I finally made it downtown to try a bowl and wasn’t impressed. The ginger sauce wasn’t good. I’ve been to other poke places that are set up like subway where you can see the bowl the entire time it’s being made, but at Pokehana you can’t see it until the end. I didn’t know the ginger sauce would be thick and clumpy compared to other poke spots their portion size is small yet the price is the same.

Got the large poke bowl with chicken, spicy tuna, and steak. A good amount of all. It’s was well prepared and fresh. Mixed the poke sauce and the teriyaki and it was the right amount of savory and sweet. Very good and will def be back.

I had never been in there before today. I had to go to my bank today which is about a block from there. So I decided to stop by there on the way home. I tried their chicken fried rice bowl. It was pretty good. The employees are very friendly and had me out in about five minutes. I will definitely be going back there.
