I like good food, and yes, I could maybe find a poke franchise closer to home. But, I like this spot. I dont doordash, I dont ubereats, I drive my happy appetite where it leads me. I for one, cant get enough of this place.
Update: had sushi this visit! Excellent food and a free little bowl of miso soup. Excellent hospitality and they even LOWERED sushi prices!!
I got the “crunch” roll and it literally has shoestring potato crisps on it. What even is that? I kind of dont even want to eat it. Picture shows crispy tempura crumbs, idk how this is a valid substitution. There’s tempura shrimp inside, so really not sure why this is what it is.
And this time will be the last.
I generally DoorDash
Today it arrived hot and the fish was green and blue with a strong odor. Called the shop they said “ ok I’ll tell the fish chef “ and then hung up on me.
They offered no solutions. Thankfully I noticed it before I ate it.
The first time I ordered from this restaurant, my mom and I ordered medium poke bowls with only mild poke sauce. When we got our order, both bowls were covered in a ridiculous amount of plain mayonnaise. My mom was able to still eat her bowl but mayonnaise is one of very few foods that is a sensory nightmare for me and I was completely unable to eat my meal. They didn’t fill our requests for two scoops of krab but that was a much lesser issue.
Today was the second time I ordered from this restaurant. I remembered this being the restaurant that covered my bowl with mayonnaise last time but I figured it was either some kind of mistake, or I had accidentally selected something on my order. I was extremely careful to read through everything and made sure I didn’t select anything but mild poke sauce. I also made notes asking for double krab and masago if it was possible and ordered a peach tea. Since the restaurant is somewhat of a drive away, I asked for them to remove the ice if possible.
When I got my order, the first thing I noticed was that the tea did have ice in it. I know people often ask for no ice as a sneaky way to get more of the drink and there’s a chance they make the tea fresh to order and need ice to cool it down, so I wasn’t too surprised about that. Luckily, when I tried the tea it was still delicious, wasn’t watered down, and wasn’t too sweet.
After that, I opened the bag and I’m embarrassed to say I was still shocked when I saw the same heavy layer of plain mayonnaise on my bowl. I tried to scrape it off but it was layered in between the fish and toppings so there was no way to really do that. I even tried tasting the mayonnaise and seeing if it was tolerable because nothing else sounded edible but unfortunately, I am still very averse. I genuinely cannot fathom how this wasn’t some kind of one-time mistake. I understand that online orders can probably be confusing to read, but plain mayonnaise wasn’t even listed as a sauce option and from reading other reviews online, I haven’t seen anyone mention this problem at all.
I also noticed that they didn’t fulfill my request for double krab or double masago and that’s when I realized, I don’t think they read order specifications at all. 100% of the orders we have made have had special instructions that were completely ignored that every other poke place i have visited has had no issue with. I would love to try ordering again and specifying that I don’t want any mayonnaise, because it would be wonderful to have a poke place in delivery range, but I have no confidence that I would get anything different. Also, I tried to eat a few pieces of tuna that were mostly free of mayonnaise and they just weren’t very good. Nothing I wouldn’t have been able to eat but almost certainly the worst tuna i’ve received at a restaurant.
Overall, incredibly disappointed with this restaurant, at least for online orders. Both times I’ve ordered, they’ve added something that makes it inedible to me without asking and I’ve just wasted my money. I also think it’s strange that the restaurant is listed as “poke and sushi” on ubereats when the address is clearly the same. My only guess is that this restaurant doesn’t really care about ubereats orders so they haven’t put too much thought into maintaining it. either way, incredibly disappointing experience.
Avocado wasn’t very good, I just took it off, the rest was amazing!
Loved the crunchy garlic and onion!
