I finally made it out to this *mysterious*
Korean restaurant in the Pittsburgh suburbs with a perfect 5-star rating. I’d been wanting to go for a while, but it’s about a 40-minute drive from the city, so I never quite made the trip. I’m really glad I did. Kye-Won’s food made the drive completely worth it. Everything tasted very authentic. We had the bulgogi brunch, kimchi jjigae, mandu, and several (rare) Korean side dishes like dried radish and garlic stems. We also tried bingsu for dessert, and they were even happy to customize it for us.

We met Kye-Won and her family, and everyone was incredibly warm and kind. It genuinely felt like visiting a bap jip back home in my hometown. She is passionate about her cooking and enjoys experimenting with the menu, which I really loved. I went on a Sunday for brunch, so I couldn’t try the K-BBQ this time, but I’m excited to go back for it and to see what new dishes she comes up with next.

Pocha by Kyewon is one of the most special dining experiences I’ve had in Pittsburgh.

From the moment you walk in, you feel it’s more than just a place to eat, it feels like being welcomed into someone’s home. The owner greets everyone like family, checking in, chatting, and making sure you’re taken care of in a way that’s so genuine and rare to find.

The food is incredible. You can taste the heart and intention behind every dish, this is Korean comfort food made with love. It’s clear that her goal isn’t just to make money, but to feed people well and share true Korean hospitality. The menu beautifully balances traditional Korean flavors with thoughtful nods to Pittsburgh, including fun items like burgers and a hot dog named after her husband, which perfectly reflects the blend of cultures here.

If you’re looking for amazing food, great beer, warmth, and a place that truly cares about its community, Pocha by Kyewon is a must-visit. Pittsburgh is lucky to have this gem.

Food was amazing! I had the wings with gochujang sauce, curry rice, and banchan. The wings were super crispy, the sauce was on point. The curry was comforting, and the banchan went great with everything!

Kye Won’s food is delicious and worth our 50 drive to try it. We loved the dumplings handmade by Mama Sue, Kye Won’s mother. The chicken wings were Phenomenal. Kye Won herself explained the menu and the passion she has for cooking was evident. Aiden, her son, cooked our BBQ. We went with friends and had a delightful evening and enjoyed a few Grist House beers along with the authentic Korean cuisine. Can’t wait to return to try more dishes. Here’s a couple pics. Nachos (yes we were surprised at Korean nachos), dumplings that went so fast I almost didn’t get a pic, and wings. Kye Won repping Penn State

Oh my goodness!!! This is 100%, the BEST Korean restaurant I have ever been to. We started out with the most tasty dumplings, which I was told, are made in house DAILY! You can tell the difference in the quality at Pocha. The pajeon, which were scallion pancakes were so light and flavorful, I couldn’t stop eating them. Our 3rd appetizer were the award winning wings, and they definitely lived up to their title-the most perfect crisp & flavor. It was a hard decision to figure out what my main course was going to be, and I went with one of the “signature dishes”, which was the spicy pork, which came with the glass noodles & rice-OUT OF THIS WORLD! I am looking forward to our next trip to Pocha, because I have to try the crab cakes! Lastly, every single staff member worked together as a team, and hustled, making sure our experience was top notch. My only regret, I didn’t take any pictures of the food, and I wish I did, because I would’ve uploaded them on this review. You must go check out POCHA!!

To start, there’s only one word for me to describe this establishment and that’s…WOW!

Pocha had truly exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for an authentic, insanely delicious, Korean dining experience, this is the place to be!

All of my food was cooked to perfection, great presentation, the spices and flavors were absolutely amazing, and the service was the cherry on top of the already very tall mountain of goodness!

Kye-Won and her son Aidan were absolutely fantastic as well. They are super friendly, very kind, and they did an excellent job with service. You can tell that they truly care for everyone who comes through that door, and all the care and love with that goes into the food as well…which honestly just makes it all the better.

Whether you’re looking for authentic Korean or exceptional food in general, then this is your place. I am very much looking forward to eating here for years to come, and I encourage anyone who hasn’t been yet to do so! You’ll love it.

My mother and I were waiting to come visit this restaurant after seeing the rave reviews on Facebook. In the army, my father was deployed to the DMZ for a year when I was 2 yrs old. My parents went to visit South Korea and the DMZ in spring 2024. They loved it! My father unexpectedly passed away last summer. So eating at an authentic Korean restaurant meant a lot to us. My kids came along also. Kye-Won was so sweet and told us all about the food and the crowd pleasers.
We started out with the nachos- my favorite, wings- my son’s fav, dumplings- my dtr and mom’s fav, and the scallion pancakes- also very good. Then we ate our main courses- bulgugi, bimbop..or something, and ramen- all delicious in their own ways. Then we had the dessert- very good also. We paired the food food with beer from Grist House- perfect! The service was fantastic! Just so that you know, the place is very small so make reservations if needed- we went for a late lunch during the week and it worked out perfectly. During spring, summer, and fall there’s outdoor seating available. But with the recent weather, no one was going to sit outside, haha! Thank you so much for this experience!

While visiting family in the area, we ate here two nights in a row. Absolutely delicious, and Kye-Won was exceptionally helpful with educating us how to eat Korean food! We will be back when in town.

Mandu is fine. The BBQ quality was poor — the beef was very tough and the chicken was overcooked and tasted burnt and bitter. The meat did not seem fresh or high quality.

On top of that, the portions were quite small for the price. Overall, it felt overpriced for what we received. We were really looking forward to a good Korean BBQ experience, but this did not meet expectations.

The full parking lot was a dead giveaway for how highly recommended Pocha is—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the first bite, everything was bursting with flavor. The housemade soy sauce was hands-down the most flavorful I’ve ever had. The crispy wings were incredible, the dumplings practically exploded with flavor, and the glass noodles were perfectly done. Their signature dish was prepared flawlessly, and honestly, every bite hit the spot.
What really stood out (besides the food) was the service. Even though the restaurant was packed the entire time we were there, the 5-star customer service never faltered. Everyone was so welcoming, happy to chat, and eager to describe the dishes and make recommendations.
Authentic, flavorful, and an all-around fantastic experience. Can’t wait to go back!
