If you’re looking for authentic Lowcountry flavor in Charlotte, Poboy Lowcountry Seafood is a must-visit. Poboy hit the spot. I had the fried croaker and shrimp with sides of dirty rice and fried okra.
The Cajun seasoning was spot on, and the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing—everything was perfectly cooked, not under or over. The shrimp and croaker had that perfect crunch.

A quick heads-up: If you aren’t a fish expert, which I am not, be aware that the croaker is served whole (not filleted) and has many small bones.

My only small critique is that I’d love the dirty rice to be a bit “dirtier” (more beef/meat), but everything else was excellent. The sides are enough for two people to share. It’s not the cheapest spot in town, but for the quality, it’s well worth the treat. Plus, the service was great—I was greeted immediately, and my food was actually ready earlier than expected!

As for the atmosphere, it is definitely more a take your food and go. The vibes do not give sit down, eat and enjoy your meal.

My perch po boy was very solid. The bread was very soft. I appreciate them using dark greens for the lettuce and the po boy sauce was on point! Will come back next time I’m on that side of town.

2nd visit. Cajun shrimp and flounder. My lucky day…they ran out of popcorn shrimp so they offered jumbo shrimp instead…heck yes! the restaurant was clean and staff was friendly! I’ll be back!

Yesterday was my second time at Po Boy’s.

The first time I went was last year and the first thing I noticed was the fresh fish they had in the back, so that was a good sign. The food is made to order, so it’s piping hot once you get it. The customer service is always great and the prices are affordable. Additionally— the food is not overly seasoned.

The only thing that made me take a second look yesterday was the current health grade of 96.5.

So I ordered on DD and first they should check out how they have their menu. If I pick a side it charges you but then charge you again depending on the size…now if you are getting a large…OKAY but if I’m getting a small order why is it $3 extra and if I try to skip it, it won’t let you move on…seems like a scam or a way to get more money from customers…fix that…that’s messed up man

Other than that…my food was good. I got flounder with shrimp , hush puppies and fries .
My fries were cold and nasty but I do believe that it is because it was ordered on DD instead of eating there

However, I loved the food and will definitely eat here again

Oh I got three pieces of fish but took the picture after I realized I didn’t take a pic lol
Oh and the young lady who answered the phone was professional and nice.

Atmosphere: clean restaurant, spacious with natural lighting
Food: The fish was good, but it was cooked hard, the edges of the fish were too hard to eat.
The fries & hush puppies were NOT FRESH!
The hush puppies were soggy with oil
the fries you could taste the oil. I came home to pop them in the air fryer & the pics with the oil is how much was in the fries alone. needless to say……3 stars overall

Was craving a seafood broil, so decided to stop by here and see what’s up. Located off freedom and looked a bit sketching but nothing too bad. Greeted immediately, and the cashier was super nice and efficient. Ended up ordering their large seafood broil that can be shared between 2-3 people. Ordered their fried fish platter that came with fries and an extra side, which we decided on rice. The seafood boil does get served in a to go box. Any entree you order does get put automatically in a to go container, no other option. Since it was put in a container, the spices and mixes do not mix well. We also had to order more old bay because there was barely enough and not enough flavor. It does come with corn, potato, sausage, and shrimp. We also added 2 crab leg clusters. It definitely was not my favorite as I like to order the ones in a bag so it all mixes well. Either way, it was tasty and ended up eating it. They have a variety of other menu items that look delicious. The fish was delicious and very flavorful. The rice did lack flavor, though, but we added some spices and pepper and definitely brought the flavor up. Overall, it’s not a bad experience, and if I’m ever in the area, I will definitely come back and try some other items.

1st time it was so delicious. But, last couple times I have been back a few times & they have had inconsistent quality. The fish was super thin & way too oily last 2 times. Floors are dirty.. When they are good, it’s very good. Just been missing a bit recently
