For me it was a bit below average. I only got a brisket sandwich and the brisket was okay. What didn’t do it for me was the cold bun it was served on. The staff/owner(maybe) was nice but I’m picky when it comes to BBQ so I will probably will try a different place next.

They didn’t give us much of the southern special this time (the container wasnt ev3n half full), which when we ordered previously it was a full container. We called about it, asking if this was the right amount and they offered to give us more. Just wish we had checked before getting back to the house. Check your meal if you are doing takeout! Otherwise we like the food, its really good.

In my opinion this is the Best BBQ I’ve had in WA State since I’ve been here. I’m from the “South” where BBQ is KING.
In this visit I only got 2 sandwiches one pulled chicken with slaw and one brisket with slaw. I’ve been to some other places around here got full plates and was disappointed didn’t want to eat it. Figured I start with sandwiches here and I was not disappointed at all. In fact my sandwich didn’t make it home. I almost went back to get another one. The chicken was delicious. The sauce the smoke flavor the Cole slaw everything was perfection. I will definitely be back to get plates take more pics and write a longer review.
Don’t pay attention to the bad reviews or even my review and stop in and decide for yourself!

Having relocated from the South, my standards for barbecue are admittedly high. When a craving for authentic BBQ hit, and the “Most Reviewed” item was the BBQ Brisket Sandwich, I knew I had to put it to the test.

Ambiance & Service (Quick Take): The establishment definitely leans into a comfortable, unpretentious dive bar aesthetic, yet maintains a clear restaurant functionality. It fosters a welcoming “come as you are” vibe. Opting for a quick “To Go” order, I was met with remarkably friendly service. The cashier’s spot-on guess about my impending yard work provided a genuine moment of connection and a good laugh. My order was prepared swiftly, and I was on my way in no time. I intend to return for a full sit-down experience with other menu items to provide a more comprehensive service review.

The Main Event: BBQ Brisket Sandwich: This is where the real scrutiny begins. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size relative to the price. The very first bite delivered a prominent, satisfying smokiness that permeated the brisket. However, the true standout was the exceptional tenderness of the meat. It was genuinely melt-in-your-mouth, practically falling apart with the slightest pressure. Honestly, the sandwich alone constitutes a substantial meal, negating the immediate need for sides. The brisket, seasoned with a noticeable smoky character, was served “dry,” allowing the accompanying sauce to take center stage. While applied somewhat sparingly, the barbecue sauce boasted a delightful sweet profile balanced by a subtle, yet noticeable tang. The bun, while a classic hamburger bun, was undeniably soft and fresh. And let’s be honest, there’s a reason classic hamburger buns are a staple – their reliable texture and neutral flavor provide an excellent foundation, allowing the robust flavors of the brisket and sauce to truly shine.

Constructive Feedback for an Even Better Experience: As a Southern transplant navigating the Pacific Northwest BBQ scene, I have a couple of suggestions that I believe would elevate this sandwich even further for discerning palates like mine. Firstly, offering a small side of the signature BBQ sauce for dipping or additional application would be greatly appreciated. This would allow diners to customize the sauciness to their preference. Secondly, I strongly believe that introducing a “premium” version of this sandwich served on sweet Hawaiian bread buns would be a game-changer. The inherent sweetness of the Hawaiian bread would create a beautiful counterpoint to the smoky, savory brisket, resulting in a flavor combination that would be truly addictive and undoubtedly drive repeat business.

Overall Impression: This BBQ Brisket Sandwich did not disappoint. The remarkable tenderness of the brisket, the well-balanced flavor combination, and the satisfying serving size are the key elements that make this a noteworthy offering. I’m already planning my return visit to explore the rest of the menu.

Most amazing BBQ place in Puyallup. We always get the pork sandwich combo. The sandwich is smoky and delicious, all the sides are good but we especially like the mac salad and baked beans. The sweet tea is rich and home brewed. I loveee their chocolate cake, it tastes like childhood. The folks are super nice and the inside is cozy, a bit of “vintage 90’s” vibe, especially with the old cash register. Love this place.

Bring cash if you don’t want to pay the 50 cent card fee!

Ohhhh, myyyy!!!! This place is DELICIOUS! I am from the south(GA/SC/FL) and have been in WA state for 3 years, and this is the 1st BBQ place I have eaten at that actually tastes delicious. Other places are a hit and miss. The pulled pork had a delicious sauce but didn’t overpower the smoke flavor from the pork. The potato salad is the BEST potato salad I have had since I have been here(yes, it tastes mustardy bc it’s southern!!)!! This will be my go-to place when I am back in the area for work! The chocolate cake was moist and yummy.
The cashier was super nice and had the best customer service! Thank you, and I can’t wait to come back! ❤️

I have been coming to this place every now and then since the 1980s. The food has always been good in the past, although sometimes disappointing to see things get heated up in a microwave, but it is a bbq place and some things need to be kept cold after smoking for food safety.

Tonight I ordered for delivery. I ordered 2 orders of the chicken plate. It is advertised as a split down the center chicken with a breast, wing, thigh, and leg. I ordered cornbread, potato salad, baked beans, and cornbread for the sides. The quality of the food received was terrible. Each plate received two leg quarters, not a chicken split down the middle. I don’t really care for dark meat, so the chicken was a complete disappointment. The restaurant should have called me to let me choose whether or not to accept the order. The baked beans tasted as if they came from a can. The corn muffins were cold (chilled) and very dry. They didn’t taste freshly made. The “butter” was a small package of spread, not butter. The potato salad had chunks of undercooked potatoes and was off-putting.

Unfortunately, after all of these years, I am done with this place and won’t be doing business with them again. As I ordered delivery, I didn’t have the opportunity to send the food back as I would have done had I eaten at the restaurant. I am NOT the kind of person who usually writes a bad review or who sends food back. This was just a total disappointment and I am sorry to see that things have gone so downhill at this restaurant.

The owner accused me of sending tweakers to his store, he has no knowledge of who I am or where I’ve come from. The extreme judgement coming from this establishment is beyond unacceptable. Very average food that WILL upset your stomach just to be judged and ridiculed. I definitely would recommend avoiding this place.

A real deal Southern hole in the wall transplanted to the PNW. Had a pork sandwich that stayed in my hand until I finished eating it; and my wife had beef ribs that feel off the bone.

Stopped here after craving some BBQ on a night out. Ordered the family platter for $60 plus a brisket combo. I received a good amount of ribs and a good helping of brisket, and four thick slices of smoked ham which was actually really tasty. Some of the ribs and brisket were a little charred, but I kind of like that. Strong applewood/maple smoke flavor came through in all the meat. The chicken was fall off the bone tender.

The sides were very good. The macaroni salad had a unique dill style dressing which was excellent. The potato salad was perfect with big thick chunks of taters. The coleslaw was average but still good. Beans had a smokey flavor and a nice bite to them.

Cornbread muffins were small, but only about $1.75 if I recall correctly. I would probably order a few extra next time. I grabbed a cheap loaf of bread and made my own sandwiches with everything.

Value for money – decent. Not super cheap, but not unreasonable.

Overall I would definitely come back to this place.
