Regular diner here and big time foodie – Plume Algiers is my all time favorite restauraunt in New Orleans. The food is always incredibly delicious and Merrit and Tyler always cater to my garlic allergy (no other restauraunt in the city will do that for me). Beyond delicious food and high attention to detail, the owners pour back into their local community which I love. Cross the damn bridge and eat at Plume Algiers! You’ll be happy you did

I switch up my main course as the menu changes, but I always order the banana chaat and house made soda. Sooo good!

Best Bengali food outside Kolkata.
Start at Beet Chop, go to rice, malaikari, kabiraji; then nehari & naan. Finish with homemade kulfi.
Go home happy, take a nap.
The passion & love of the owners show in every drip.
Took ferry & walked; easier than going to French Quarter from downtown.

I have eaten at this place a couple times now and can attest it being 5 stars every single time. The menu changes but the flavor and satisfaction never disappoints. I actually tell everyone about this restaurant and have brought several people there who all have brought other people back. The owners work the place and are insanely passionate about the food experience for their customers. This is a unique experience that you will not regret. The ambiance is welcoming, relaxed, and comfortable. I can’t say enough good about this place. I look up reviews to help me decide on both where to eat and what to eat and I am a person who usually needs to already pick out my meal before I get somewhere but i can’t do that with Plume yet it doesn’t matter because everything they make is incredible. They are honest about their foods and can help you choose your items based off your taste. They are extremely helpful. Please just try it and enjoy!! And get the fermented coconut pancake thing, sooo good.

Plume Algiers is one of the most unique and exciting dining experiences you’ll find in New Orleans — especially if you’re craving something beyond the usual local staples. It’s a cozy, chef-driven Indian restaurant tucked into the residential heart of Algiers Point with a menu that’s both creative and deeply flavorful.

The food here reflects real care and inspiration from Indian regional cuisine — dishes like Chingri Malai shrimp simmered with turmeric and coconut milk, Beef Nihari, and crispy Fish Kabiraji stand out for their bold flavors and thoughtful execution. Rather than sticking to the usual curry-only repertoire, Plume blends traditional techniques with seasonal ingredients and clever twists that keep every bite interesting.

The vibe is relaxed and welcoming — a small neighborhood gem rather than a flashy restaurant — and the owners’ passion really comes through in every dish. It’s the kind of spot where the food feels authentic, personal, and exciting, perfect for a memorable dinner that’s a bit off the beaten path in New Orleans.

If this place was across the river or any other city this would be immediately better than 90% of restaurants. Would’ve never known about it had chatgpt not recommended it! Coming from Houston for work, I would literally come multiple days in a row to try all the other dishes. Refreshing take compared to the heavier cuisine of New Orleans, def worth a stop.

While visiting New Orleans Plume was recommended by a server at a different restaurant. Plume has a great local vibe and the service was amazing. The highlight was the food. We had the butter chicken and lamb meatballs. Both dishes had a perfect level of spice that allowed the balanced flavors shine through. The naan was baked with a light glaze of butter and garlic that we used to consume every ounce of the gravy. Food highlight of our trip. Totally worth the short drive over the river.

Simply the best Indian restaurant we have ate in USA. Example of how passion can create something beautiful. This is ran by an American couple who actually visited different places in India to create this menu. As a bengali (where the Fish Kabiraji is from), this is definitely the best Fish Kabiraji I ever had. Everything else like Raj kachouri, lamb nihari and fish cafreal were equally good. And the service was also excellent. If you visit new Orleans, don’t miss this one.

this place is amazing! i was a little skeptical about how good the indian food here could possibly be, but the chefs knocked it out of the park. they make a point to bring dishes that aren’t commonly found at other indian restaurants in the usa here so everything we tried was really novel and unique to us. the ingredients were fresh and flavors were immaculate. we each paid $45 for the staff there to curate our meal and ate everything family-style which is the only way to go in my opinion ~ i highly recommend coming here with a group if you can so you can try as many plates as possible. 10/10 would recommend!
