If you want the best crispy fried chicken ever… you NEED to come here.

Crispy Fried Chicken: GET THIS!!
The most deliciously crispy, juicy, and mouth watering chicken you will ever eat. Paired with the sauce, I don’t think it can get any better. I don’t even live near here and I come back just for this.

The other items were tasty and seasoned well but the fried chicken just stole the show for me.

The service was very friendly and accommodating. And for dinner time, we were almost the only ones in the restaurant. For how good the food was, this place needs to be put on the radar!

If you’re looking for authentic Thai food in Orange County, Plern Thai Cafe is a must. Every dish felt comforting, traditional, and thoughtfully made, like food cooked with real care and intention.

We started with the crispy chive cake and papaya salad, which were the perfect way to wake up the palate. One of our favorites was the Plern signature pork jowl with Thai purple rice berry. The grilled steak salad with aromatic rice powder was a standout: so tender and refreshing with amazing depth of flavor. The crispy pork Brussels sprouts were perfectly crunchy and coated in a rich garlic sauce that we couldn’t get enough of.

The Thai basil Wagyu, made with real grass-fed beef and topped with a runny egg, was unreal. They also have all the classic Thai dishes tom yum soup, pad see ew, and an amazing Penang curry with melt-in-your-mouth beef shanks.

Don’t skip the drinks and dessert! The Thai tea and Thai iced coffee were great pairings, and the sweet roti with coconut was the perfect way to end the meal. We also loved the Wagyu roti mataba. It is a crispy roti filled with Wagyu, potatoes, and onions, packed with flavor in every bite.

Overall, this is comforting, authentic Thai food made the way the owner grew up eating it. You can truly taste the tradition and heart behind the dishes. We’ll definitely be back.

A few friends and I came here, and we genuinely had an amazing time, thanks to the incredible service from Nancy and the delicious food. From the moment we sat down, she made sure we were taken care of, which made the experience even better.
We went all in and shared a variety of dishes, including the brussel sprouts, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Zapp Beef Soup, Braised Beef Panaeng Curry, Thai Coffee, and Thai Iced Tea and let me tell you, everything was on point. The Zapp Beef Soup and Panaeng Curry were the real standouts for me, packed with rich, bold flavors and the perfect amount of heat at medium spice. Definitely got that kick, but in the best way possible!
Also, if you’re debating on getting rice, do yourself a favor and try the Roti instead, it had that soft, naan-like texture with a great flavor that paired perfectly with the curry. And don’t even get me started on the Thai Tea and Thai Coffee—just the right balance of sweetness without being overpowering.
Overall, this place is a solid win, and I’m glad we found another go-to Thai spot! If you’re in the area and craving some seriously good Thai food, I’d 100% recommend checking it out!

First time here. Young lady/server was very nice. Just know there is no public restroom. I was told to go to the bakery a few doors down and that was a clear NO from both Wing Stop next door and the bakery. Had towalk a block to find a public restroom. Not at ALL acceptable, especially if you have children.

Decent Food, But Comfort Could Be Improved

I recently dined at this Thai restaurant and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was good, offering authentic flavors that reminded me of Thailand. However, there were a few downsides that affected my overall experience.

Firstly, the lack of restroom facilities, even for customers, was a significant inconvenience. This was particularly problematic because it made it hard to wash hands before and after eating, which is essential for hygiene.

Additionally, the restaurant’s air circulation was poor, leading to a very hot and somewhat uncomfortable dining environment.

While I enjoyed the food, these issues with basic amenities and comfort made my visit less enjoyable than expected.

The Food is INCREDIBLE! Most authentic Thai found we have found. Don’t expect a fancy local, but the food makes up for that completely.

My favorite place for Thai food. The taste is always on point. Smaller menu than other Thai restaurants but everything is good and fresh. Service is quick and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and tastefully decorated. Small cafe type restaurant, no frills, just good food. They were under rennovation for a while but recently opened up for dining again. I saw a lot of people order carry outs while I was there.

Who the hell made my food???

I ordered their pad thai with shrimp togo after checking out the reviews.
Very disappointed with the quality and taste.
Noodles were way way overcooked and tasted like they forgot to add any sauce.
Just lots of noodles and was lacking the rest.
Shrimp was fresh and that was all.
I never like to waste food but I threw away almost half of the noodles cuz it was BAD.
I checked what other people posted and the color looks so different!

I liked how they used the box instead of plastic container and that’s why I uploaded the 1st pic.

This place is delicious, everything is so flavorful and aromatic! The crispy chive cake is soft and fluffy inside and goes well with the sweet soy sauce. The Basil Wagyu is my go to but I tried over half their menu and they’re all tasty!
I recommend going after the lunch time rush (after 1 pm) so that you don’t have to wait as long for the food. The place can get packed and there’s usually only one server.

This place is a hidden gem in OC, and definitely one of the best restaurants I have had in a long time. You can tell every dish is prepared with care and fresh ingredients. The place is pretty cozy and allow up to about 20 people for dine in. There is no restroom in here (closest one is in the nearby 99 cent store). Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was not packed at all. Ordered four dishes and every single one of blown my mind. The peanut sauce complemented the sate really well, and the prok toro was to die for. The sauce was so sophisticated it’s hard to decipher what ingredient was used and the flavor just exploded. The braised beef with panang curry was really tender and savory, and a fresh touch with the fried pancake. Lastly, the basil wagyu will make you chow down rice on bowl after the other. Will be back to try their other dishes soon.
