After walking the entire trail at nearby Hopewell Mound Group Unit Park, I stumbled upon this roadside restaurant serving burgers, fries, fried mushrooms, ice cream, and shakes.
My food was delicious, and everyone was polite and helpful! The entire place was spotless. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff all worked as a team. The decor was cute with colorful, amusing paintings, and a variety of tables and chairs. It appears to be a popular spot for the locals as they admittedly had sold out of some menu items by the time I arrived near to 440 p.m. to place my order. Be patient as sometimes your order may have to be tallied on one of their two registers at the counter, or the drive thru.

Driving through Chillicothe and stopped in for lunch. Glad we did – nice, clean little ice cream shop with delicious food choices. Ordered a Texas tenderloin and onion rings. Served hot and fresh! Highly recommend.

I absolutely love the Pleasant Valley Shake Shoppe. Their slaw dogs are my favorite. They have the best hot dog sauce and slaw! I love their blueberry sundae as well. The milkshakes are great as well. You’ll have a wait for the food but that’s because they make it fresh and trust me it’s worth the wait. Definitely check them out if you haven’t!

This is a cool little place serving up ice cream and lunch. I ordered a pork and it was by far the thinest pork tenderloin I’ve ever had. It was big and tasted ok but not much too it. The onion rings were excellent! My wife ordered the fried bologna sandwich and it was delicious. Looking at the food others ordered it appears they put out some really good food. I will go back if ever passing through the area again but I would will pass on the pork next time.

I like local and this place is as local as you can get. We wanted milkshakes and a burger after watching our sons college baseball game. So I did a Google search and found this little gem. The milkshakes were good, the burger was ok nothing fancy just a good ol American cheeseburger. Great prices and not a wallet buster. Definitely worth the stop.

An Oasis of Good Eats Right in the Neighborhood
Recently reopened after it’s annual winter down-time, Pleasant Valley Shake Shoppe is a super convenient place for those of us west of Chillicothe to grab a meal or a snack.
Located in Pleasant Valley, it’s the closest place for residents of Pleasant Valley and people camping at Sun Valley Campgrounds to get a hot meal or a cold ice cream treat.
PV Shake Shoppe keeps track of all of the Texas Tenderloin sandwiches they sell, but there are better places to get one of these in Chillicothe. Hamburgers and footling hot dogs are better choices here. Also, be on the lookout for specials, such as chicken and noodles.
Soft serve and hand-dipped Velvet ice cream makes this place worth a visit. More reasonably priced than Dairy Queen and very tasty.
Their menu recommends calling ahead for large orders, which is great advice. There is a convenient drive-up window for those who call in and don’t want to eat in the charming dining area.
