Great Mexican food and margaritas, I usually do tacos and enchiladas and haven’t been disappointed. The chips and salsa are great too! We’re so happy to have this as a option in Chestertown.

The one star is very generous. Our waiter took our drink order and that’s the last we saw of him. But not the last we heard. He was in the both behind us laughing loudly on his phone. Another girl took care of us. There were only 2 other tables besides us. Plenty of time and people to at least have fresh food. The chips were gross. Like they were old. And very little chicken cheese or anything on the nachos.i normally never leave bad reviews but the food, and the quality of it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Really great authentic Mexican food at a great price!

The margaritas were quite good, and all of our dishes were excellent. My Mexican friend specifically called out the tamales as being just as good as the ones he got at home.

I can personally vouch for the enchiladas as being delicious also.

The food is pretty good, but not much to compare to as there are no similar restaurants nearby. Service can be slow, especially at peak times. Be sure to ask for separate checks before ordering – paying at the end takes an excessive amount of time. Atmosphere is okay – needs a lot of updating and cleaning.

My family and I just tried to dine local at the Chestertown Plaza Tapatia. We found a handwritten sign on the door that read “close 2-5”
We stood outside until 5:15 until were let in by the staff who were around the back of the building. We were the first people to be sat. We waited for over an hour. Other tables came in. One couple up and left due to the wait. The management was not present. They left all of the disgruntled customers to their one server, who also seemed frustrated. We should have been informed of any issue in the back. The food portions were small. We only ordered 3 dishes. Management has got to step it up. As we complained, and tipped our server, they shuttled to the back. A family came in and stood at the door to be seated around 6:40 and after their wait, the staff said sorry we are closed. Well, no – your operating hours say you are open until 9:00. The issue was not resolved. Terrible customer service and quality. This is sad.

Slow service and bland food. I went there with three others who all ordered fairly standard entrees and I don’t think anyone finished theirs. The ground beef was decidedly flavorless and the red taco sauce tasted close to ketchup. Tortillas were wet, and steak was chewy. Furthermore, it took almost half an hour to get checks and be rung up, when there was only another two tables. I was really hoping to like it after the other reviews, but will not be returning. I’m willing to ignore bad service if it’s good food, but you are better off at Taco Bell if you’re looking for Mexican food in Maryland.

The staff was friendly and the service was decent, but our food came out overcooked and with items we had asked to be removed still in my wife’s order. Also they were out of rice but didn’t tell us until bringing out our orders where they had subbed in extra beans that weren’t seasoned very well.

Went to eat at Plaza Tapatia for our first time this Wednesday, and wont being going back. You walk into a sign asking you to wait to be seated and it was literally a wait. Only 3 tables were is use and we waited over 10 minutes to be seated. Just awkwardly standing there. There were only two waitresses and from what I could see one cook. We were seated, gave our drink order and received a basket of chips and salsa. 5 minutes later we got our drinks and ordered our food. Two taco salads, a kids quesadilla and enchiladas. My son asked for extra chips and I was told i would be charged… I dont understand how a table of two and a table of four get the same amount of chips but I will be charged when my table of four asks for more? I agreed and Im glad I did because we ended up waiting over 30 minutes for food. When the food did arrive it was cold. Our waitress took forever to come check on us so we just ate it. I waited another 15 minutes after completing our meal for a check and stared both waitresses down. Nothing. The couple that came in while we were eating was checking out with their waitress and I couldn’t even get a check after being stuck int he restaurant forever. I finally went and put myself at the counter. I waited another 5 minutes for the waitress to go through the menu and “add my items up”. She then goes to the other register and rings me up for $64 dollars. No detail, no ticket itemizing anything, just charges me. I left a $10 tip because I have been a waitress but I have regretted it ever since. This was a terrible experience, I don’t even know what I payed for each item I got. I feel ripped off and unsatisfied. The only decent part was the food which was bland and cold but the chips were on point and warm.

On November 9, 2017 at 6:30 pm I walked into this restaurant and the guy greeting people at the door claimed to be the manager. He didn’t look at me nor speak to me . He didn’t greet me at all. I was ignored the entire time. I am a black male that works very hard and decided to grab a bite here after a long day. I instantly felt offended and changed my mind as a white couple walked in behind me and he looks over me as if I’m in the way and greeted them with a smile and being very friendly and professional as I felt I deserved. When I spoke to him and expressed that I was there first and he was ignoring me he replied saying that he was very busy but not too busy to greet a the couple standing behind me. I told him I would like to order and he refused and sent an older gentleman to me to take my order. I asked what time the owner shows up in the morning he says he is never there. I find that hard to believe. If you are black you will be treated this way in the whole plaza. It’s sad that people are still prejudice. People of ” color” please don’t not support this establishment

Real Mexican food. Almost like being back in El Paso. I love the seafood soup, eat some there and take some home. Kids are very welcome, they even have chicken fingers and french fries. Mexican sodas in glass bottles. Desserts worth cleaning your plate for. It is our family party place, a special treat.
