By FAR the best Mexican restaurant. All the ingredients taste so good & fresh. I will get same or sometimes similar dishes at other Mexican restaurants Plaza Maya somehow does it so much better. The way they cook and season everything is top tier. They have also remained consistently good over the years which I appreciate. Service is always great. Everything is always nice and clean. We will go out of our way to make it to this one if we want some authentic Mexican food. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic experience at Plaza Maya! Even though we arrived close to closing time, the service was excellent—friendly, welcoming, and we never felt rushed.

The food was amazing. I had the Maya Burrito, my wife really enjoyed the beef taco salad, and my daughter was happy with the kids’ chicken tenders and fries. A huge standout was the queso dip; it was absolutely delicious and a must-order. We were all so hungry that I completely forgot to take pictures before we started eating, but everything looked as good as it tasted!

Great food and great staff. We will definitely be back!

We were searching for a place to hold a wedding dinner of about 50 people for our wedding back in October. My husband called to inquire about a reservation that large. He was told they did them, just not on Fridays or Saturdays. Our wedding was on a Saturday so my husband told them thanks but he understood that wouldn’t work. When they realized we were asking about a wedding they discussed it and were generous enough to make an exception for us. I’m so thankful they did because it worked out wonderfully. Everyone was super satisfied with their meals, which they were able to order off the menu, no set options required. We were able to have a wonderful and congenial dinner with our guests. The staff were professional, timely, attentive, and beyond accommodating. They had a wonderful setup for us for our cake/cupcakes and even threw in a toast. All in all, we couldn’t have been happier with how things went and appreciate how wonderful the staff were in allowing an exception for us.

We had an excellent experience here and we’re so glad we picked this spot.
The service was exceptional in speed and attention to us.
The food was great and was in significant portions (more than enough to eat in some cases).
They made us and our children feel very comfortable.
Well worth a visit.
Also, their horchata is amazing!

My review of Plaza Maya Restaurant in Charleston, WV. The first picture is what we ordered. Notice all the melted, gooey cheese, the fresh cilantro, the juicy flavored beef. Looks delicious right?! The second picture is what we got. Dry meat, refried beans and a little rice. Meh… We even showed the manager what we ordered and what we got. He apologized and said, “Yes, yes I see. I’m sorry. I’ll take care of it.” The 3rd picture is our bill. Does it look like they “Took care of it”? Disappointing. Why won’t Mexican restaurants in WV put real cheese in ANYTHING that is supposed to have cheese?!

Summary: yummy & affordable!

Passing through WV on a roadtrip, Plaza Maya has been the highlight of our stay in Charleston. I would recommend it to visitors and locals alike.

All the food was good, the drinks were yummy, and the Chicken Soup appetizer was a standout. It may be an appetizer, but it could be a whole meal on its own. Flavorful soup with tortilla strips and a fresh, ripe avocado on top — for $8 in this economy? Excellent value for the quality.

I believe our server’s name was Erick. He was friendly, attentive and efficient. Great service, give him a raise.

We ordered:
Raspberry sweet tea
Horchata
Chicken Soup
Burritos con salsa verde

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is always efficient and attentive. My friends and I eat here almost every Thursday and the food is consistently excellent.

My favorite is the “lunch special #1 and the “Plaza Maya Dip” is cheese dip with ground beef and other goodies. Wonderful! I don’t care to eat at any other restaurant for Mexican cuisine.
