VERY rare 5 star from us, if that says anything for ya
Although we got an “ice cold” and “service with attitude” from reception girls…
Once seated, we were greeted by VERY friendly waitress WITH A SMILE
Our orders arrived UNEXPECTEDLY fast!!!
Can’t remember the names but, mine was lunch chimichanga(1) with sides of beans and salad…see our photos.
Another surprise was the mabager “cruising around” the floor, chatting with customers UNEXPECTED from restaurant manager…THAT is what’s called “SERVICE WITH A SMILE”, people. You rarely see that ANYWHERE these days, even at high end restaurants.
We shall return

The food was excellent. Unfortunately the place thinks it is a night club. Music was extremely loud and it was hard to have a conversation. But the portion sizes were a fair value for the price. Chips and salsa are included.

This was our first time eating here and it was absolutely delicious! I’ve seen many restaurants come and go in this building over the years but I hope this one is here to stay- it is beautiful inside! The bar looks awesome! Lots of seating options! Our waitress was SO friendly and happily answered all of our first-timer type questions! The menu has so many options it was hard to decide what we wanted to try first! The food came out quickly and WOW the portions were ginormous! The corn tortilla were SO good! Everyone from the hostesses, waitress, food servers, and even the manager were so friendly and just really made the experience of dining out an enjoyable time! Our waitress heard that it was our son’s birthday this week and she made some birthday magic happen- what a fun and unexpected treat! My daughter has already requested to come back here in 2 weeks for her birthday! But I wouldn’t be surprised if we are back even before then! Very happy to have such a wonderful restaurant here in Jacksonville- we’ve been away in Italy and Alaska the last 5 years and we have NOT had good Mexican food so this was VERY very exciting for us!

We stopped in yesterday and had the Arroz & Mariscos and the Choripollo. Every staff members we encountered were kind and great attitudes. The food portions were very large. My Arroz & Mariscos was very good! My wife enjoyed her Choripollo as well. We can’t wait to come back and try another dish.

We had a great meal at Plaza Del Mariachi. The staff was very fast to deliver chips, salsa, water and keep them all refilled. The food was excellent. We shared a molcajete and a shrimp bowl. The skinny margarita is also a win!

Our first visit to this restaurant. I ordered the Azteca Salad and my husband, the Mahi Mahi tacos. Both were delicious! Friendly staff. Will definitely go back to try something different from the menu!

Been there several times over the last year+ … always during the day for lunch… finally went on Saturday evening (6pm) for early dinner & WOW the music was SO LOUD that our table, that we quite literally couldn’t speak to each other!!! It wasn’t even atmospheric cantina music … it was very much dance/club/hip-hop music, which normally I love to crank up … but not while I’m trying to visit with the person sitting right next to me. We were a party of 4 (2 women 20’s & 2 women 40’s) and none of us had a good experience this time due to the extreme volume of the music. By the time our food came, we just immediately got boxes to-go bcuz all 4 of us had headaches. Clearly, on Saturday evening, they cater to the barely legal, dating, drinking, loud crowd. And that’s OK, but it would’ve been nice to know this ahead of time so we could go elsewhere for our planned chatty dinner.
Now, with that being said, this time & EVERY time, our food is ALWAYS excellent!! Hot & accurate as ordered. Drinks are pretty well filled as needed, depending on the fullness of the bar. Staff are ALWAYS very polite and efficient. The wait time is comparable to every other restaurant. None of us have ever had a dish that wasn’t up to par. Portions are so huge & pretty much always have extra to take home for later. Prices are comparable to the other area Mexican restaurants. Chips & salsa included. Free refills on pop/tea/water.
So, we live & learn & while we won’t stop going to Plaza because it’s the all around BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN TOWN. We will, however, NOT be going again on Saturday night but if that’s your thing, then please go! But if you prefer more laid back cantina vibes, then maybe go earlier in the day for lunch or order to-go.
PROS: food quality, food size for price, food selections, attentive staff, friendly staff, clean atmosphere, nice bar menu, always have leftovers to take home

Sooo.. We came upon this restaurant by accident.. We were actually supposed to meet up at another one with a similar name but decided on this one since we were already here.. The food portions are huge.. ! I couldn’t finish it.. Most of us took some home. The food was good but like the Chile rellenos.. Who doesn’t know they are supposed to be battered with eggs.. For a Mexican restaurant? It was just a Chile with melted cheese . That was disappointing.. The drinks were hugeeeee but they didn’t taste like liquor. They were playing good music.. A mixture of Latin music.. U would think they would have a dance floor. The aesthetic is decent. At the end of the day.. I would come back whenever we came back to NC. It’s nice for big groups and dates
