Outrageous Overcharging — $210 for Three Margaritas?!
I’ve never felt more ripped off by a restaurant. Playa Azteca charged me $210 for THREE “top-shelf” margaritas made with Don Julio 1942. That’s $70 per drink — which is absolutely absurd. For context, the entire bottle of 1942 is about $90 at the state store, and it contains around 25 shots. There is no world where three cocktails should cost over two hundred dollars.
The part that really pushed this over the line? No one quoted me a price beforehand. If they had, I would have laughed and ordered something else. Instead, they served the drinks without any warning and quietly dropped a massive surprise charge on the bill.
When I questioned the price, the staff acted like it was normal. No explanation, no apology, no attempt to make it right — just a shrug and “that’s what it costs.” That’s not premium service; that’s taking advantage of customers who trust you to be transparent.
I don’t mind paying for quality, but this wasn’t premium pricing — this was predatory, and the attitude that came with it made the experience even worse.
Girlfriend and I split a fajita dinner and total was $247 horrible chicken and shrimp were overcooked
If you value honesty, transparency, or just basic respect for your wallet, I strongly recommend going anywhere else. Charging luxury prices is one thing — charging robbery prices without telling anyone is another.

It was definitely a great experience even though it was a long line we were allowed to sit at the bar where we order excellent Margarita floats after that we were seated by a kind waitress and serve some of the best Mexican cuisine around great for a date night

This was my first time at Plaza Azteca, and it won’t be my last. We arrived on an early Saturday afternoon, between the lunch and dinner rushes, so the atmosphere and experience were relaxed and really enjoyable. The food was exceptional (my street eloté appetizer pictured here). Our server spoke conversational English, but was a native Spanish speaker. We happened to have another Spanish speaker in our group, and while there was nothing about our dining experience that needed any sort of improvement (it was top shelf on its own), our friend’s ability to translate a few things here and there made for an even better experience overall, and it was clear by the server’s demeanor that she appreciated it.

I’ve visited this location a few times, but my most recent experience was a bit disappointing. The chips didn’t seem as fresh as usual, and the shrimp was a little too salty and heavily seasoned for my taste. The kids’ mac and cheese, while fine, felt pricey at nearly $10 for what appears to be a basic boxed version. I’d gladly pay more for something housemade with a few more side options. The iced tea also tasted a bit off. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, though it did take a little while to get the check.

Visited Plaza Azteca to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a great time. Ordered tacos, which tasted decent, but what really stood out was the service. Our server was absolutely amazing—very attentive, friendly, and clearly great at her job. Since it was a birthday celebration, the staff went the extra mile and celebrated with a Spanish birthday song, which made the experience fun and memorable. Loved the energy and hospitality—definitely a place that knows how to make guests feel special.

We had our weekend dinner at PLAZA AZTECA. Each food ordered was bang on. We ordered Chicken & Spinach Enchilada and Veggie Bowl. The enchilada was very flavourful and each ingredients felt fresh…. This will take one of the top food I liked…. One of the best Mexican food in town. Must try and I recommend everyone to try the food here, just waiting for my next dinner plan again to hit the restaurant and enjoy the food

We all truly enjoyed our experience. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. There aren’t many restaurants that impress me this much, but this one definitely stood out. The service, in particular, really caught my attention.
The food arrived in time, and the portion size was also good. everything was delicious. The kids’ menu was decent as well.
Overall, this restaurant is fantastic. I’ll definitely be coming back and will gladly recommend it to others.

Fantastic!!!! We were seating quickly. Drinks and chips came quickly! I do not know what the wire sauce was but it was delicious. Our food can out very fast. Our service was great! We will be back

Everything we got was delicious. My meal was served in a half of a pineapple with steak, chicken, peppers and onions yum! Very good. My mango margarita was spot on good. The strawberry margarita was also delicious. The tacos other people got they liked. Will go there again for sure. This could easily become one of my favorite places to eat.

Had an amazing meal at Plaza Azteca! I got the shrimp fajitas and California fish tacos, and wow both were delicious. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the fish tacos were super fresh with just the right balance of crunch and creaminess. Everything tasted so good I didn’t want it to end. The vibe was chill, the service was friendly, and overall, the whole experience was just awesome. Can’t wait to go back!
