I rate Mexican restaurants all over the country, so I get technical. Short answer on Playa Vallarta is: lovely place, great service, great food. Took only 15 minutes for food to arrive on a busy Fri. night. Very tasty. Technicalities are: (1) chips and salsa are good but not “great” (can’t tell if chips are freshly made on-site; they didn’t seem that fresh. Salsa was cold as if from a fridge; not bad, but the “best” are freshly made and served at room temp). (2) Decor is nice, but not mexican style (except for a few sombreros). (3) The hard floor is pretty, but makes the place a little loud from voices. Don”t let the technicalities keep you away. Lovely place on the golf course with great food and great service.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Great location on the golf course, plenty of parking, great portion sizes and plenty of options. Perfectly seasoned steak and the margaritas were delicious as well. Quick and attentive service. Loved the added touch that each person had their own salsa bowl for the chips.

The chips n salsa lacked any sort of flavor and was just water. The nachos came with a thin, watery white sauce that added nothing, but made everything wet immediately. The meat itself tasted blander than the stuff I make at home with a seasoning packet. The burrito de la mesa had a lot of wet lettuce and large chunks of tomato thrown haphazardly on top. I’m not sure which sauce it was, but there was a lot of wetness on the plate- specifically by the beans and sour cream. There was no heat and not nearly enough flavor. The parrillada burrito also had no flavor nor spice. Even though it has “chipotle sauce” coated on it.

Better options in Jefferson county, let alone in Jefferson. Pick somewhere else to go.

If you are Mexican or know how mexican food should be made you would avoid this restaurant it is not what you are looking for. I will start with the salsa very bland very tomatoe based. I knew when I seen the salsa I picked the wrong spot. I can see why certain people would like it if you like Americanized mexican food. Ordered chimichanga’s and chilli relleno. What is a chimichanga? I would say it is a deep fried burrito. What I received was not a chimichanga. I would describe that as a pan seared tortilla which was not fried there was absolutely no crisp or crunch to it at all. Came out covered in an enchilada sauce like substance. Like if I wanted a soggy tortilla, I would of ordered an enchilada. I absolutely hate when mexican restaurants do this. But like I said I should of known because it started with the salsa. Chilli Relleno is the only thing that was halfway decent. Beans tasted like they came out of a can and rice did not have much flavor. I wished my server would have came back to give me a refill instead of refilling it once I asked for the check. Price is outrageous for the quality of the food. Read the previous reviews most do not know what mexican food really is. You ever ate something and you are mad you had to pay for it because it just was not that good? Yeah I left disappointed. Food was edible but just not the place you go to if looking for some authentic mexican.

We visited here and everything was so good. My daughter had a quesadilla with chicken and cheese and the chicken was tender and juicy. My shrimp were cooked perfectly and had a great flavor and the rice was delicious. Great place

Awesome Mexican food. My wife and I have ate there several times and never had a bad meal. We also took our adult family (9 adults) for a meal and the service was great. Highly recommend the carnitas!

Service is subpar. Come to the table to your table to drop off your food and never come back. They say all lunches come with rice and beans. They do not. You have to ask. And what is the service fee now added to your bill? I guess I don’t understand.

Order for carry out is never correct, they just throw what they want in a bag and say it’s yours. Something is always missing and the cheese sauce you pay $9.00 for comes in a little dipping cup.
