Usually I don’t bother to write a review, but when someone goes above and beyond and you notice you think it best to share. I didn’t know what I exactly wanted and this young lady Lilly told me I could create my own bowl. It was perfect and quick service and very pleasant to talk with. You need more servers like her. Not cranky teens who don’t want to work.

The place was very clean and fun. We loved the acai bowls they were very refreshing after the beach. The most important Fruits were fresh and good portioned. Good price for the quality of the food and service. Great location by the beach. Smoothies were tasty too. Highly recommend this place

The playa bowls were just average at best, it tasted like a bowl of mush with fruit on top, the fruit was good and cut nice. The real problem was how messy and unsanitary the costumer tables were. They are lucky the health department didn’t check in. Clean up your act long branch. That is a sock on the counter, yes a sock, unless your Dobby the house elf that is not a good sight.

Unique bowl item – pick the açaí bowl like the Nutella bowl. It is very filling and definitely not a desert place unless you want smoothie which doesn’t look good enough to come here for it. I do like the cuteness of the place but not a place that I would come back unless if I want a unique place to some people from out of town.

I walked in to grab myself an açaí bowl again this week but wasn’t too sure what i wanted before I ordered, it wasn’t busy at all at the time but as I walked up the register the girl with pink highlights just gave me the most bothersome look ever and also was very rude when taking my order. When I also walked in a couple of days ago I seen her in the back on her phone while her co workers were doing all the work!! I still tipped because I worked in the food industry before and seeing all the other hardworking workers in the back they didn’t deserve one bad worker ruin it for all of them.

Rode on a motorcycle from Rahway just to come to this place. Looking forward to my favorite Tropical Acai bowl and they have no more pineapple. How does a place that only serves fruit run out of fruit? Ordered nothing and went to the one in Asbury park. And the tables outside were just horrible and disgusting. I’m glad I didn’t get anything.

From the moment I walked into Playa Bowls, I felt an immediate sense of warmth and positivity, all thanks to Katelyn. She greeted me with a genuine smile and a friendly attitude that instantly made me feel welcome. It wasn’t just about placing an order—it felt like I was being taken care of by someone who truly enjoyed what she was doing.

As I watched Katelyn prepare my bowl, I could see the care and attention she put into every step. She didn’t just toss the ingredients together—she crafted it with precision and love. The colors, the layering, the perfect balance of toppings—it all reflected someone who takes pride in their work. When I took my first bite, I could actually taste the difference. It wasn’t just açaí and fruit; it was joy in a bowl.

Katelyn turned a simple visit into a standout experience. Her kindness, her energy, and the love she put into my order made this one of the best customer service moments I’ve had in a long time. I left not only satisfied but genuinely happier than when I walked in. I’ll definitely be coming back—and hoping she’s the one behind the counter again!

When I walked into Playa, I was immediately greeted by a warm smile from a worker named Amaya. She had such a kind energy that instantly made me feel welcome. Instead of just taking my order and moving on, she took the time to make small talk, asking me how my day was going and helping me pick out the perfect bowl. It was a small gesture, but it made the whole experience feel more personal and comfortable from the start.

As she made my bowl, I could see how much care she put into it. The way she layered the ingredients, added the toppings, and made sure everything looked perfect—it truly felt like she was making it with love. She didn’t rush through it or treat it like just another order. I could tell she took pride in what she was doing, and that care really came through in the final product. Every bite was amazing—fresh, balanced, and full of flavor.

After I left and took a few bites, I actually turned around and walked back into the store just to tell her how good it was. I couldn’t leave without letting her know how much I appreciated the effort she put in. She smiled and thanked me, and I could tell it meant something to her too. It was honestly the best experience I’ve ever had at Playa, and Amaya made it unforgettable.

I come here a couple times every week and they usually get my order right so I can’t complain, but there are just some times where the quality isn’t there so it’s just frustrating given that I spend around $20 every week at this store and sometimes it’s reliable and sometimes it’s not. The main issue is the smoothies, a lot of times the smoothies are not fully blended so there are chunks of fruit at the bottom of the cup that get stuck in the straw and are just unpleasant to have in my smoothie. In addition to that, there have been times where they forget to put a peanut butter drizzle on the cup. But there are also issues with my oatmeal order, I will order an oatmeal bowl with half acai and half oatmeal — expecting it to be half hot oatmeal and half acai. Unfortunately, the bowl will be overflowing with acai and contain barely any oatmeal — along with the fact that the acai and oatmeal get mixed together (and does not taste very good). I don’t want to completely talk down upon this business because there are times where the quality of the food is great, but it is just very inconsistent (and therefore frustrating as a frequent customer).
