PLate

  4.5 – 463 reviews   • American restaurant

PLate is not a typical business venture. PLate is a fun and focused adventure built on deep friendships, a sense of family, and our proud community. We started with a 1900’s farmhouse on South Main and very diverse backgrounds and skills. The common denominator became our passion for doing things the right way, whether designing a unique building, preparing a distinctive dish, or stirring a signature cocktail. OUR MISSION at PLate has been clear from the start: To create a branded, upscale American eatery in downtown Prior Lake known for consistently producing distinctive high-quality food and beverages for its community of customers. There is a neighborhood focus, but an inviting atmosphere for all.

OMG…Damn Delicious!! After not securing a reservation at a near by steakhouse, this is what we can’t up with. So glad we got to experience it. The food, chefs kiss everything bought to our table was finger lickin good. To to it off, the service was a 10/10 and the place was cute!! We tried a variety of things starting with the calamari 10/10, the filet cooked to perfection 10/10, the burger made from several cuts of beef 10/10, the Brussels sprouts to die for 10/10, steak tacos were seasoned and tender 10/10. Our drinks were all delicious as well. Run don’t walk to try this place. You can thank we later!

Recently moved to Prior Lake and this is the second time visiting Plate. Kapria(spelling?) was our server both times and she was great. Great recommendation on drinks, entrees, dessert. Service and food was great all around. This place is great for special occasions and also just when you want to nice dinner. We’ll be there regularly going forward. Highly recommend Plate.

Really good service, relaxing atmosphere and food was well seasoned and cooked. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare, fat was well rendered. Definitely a scratch style kitchen. On the pricier side however you get what you pay for.

Wow! Service was amazing, food was so delicious (Pasta Tartufo with Scallops) and (Fillet with Shrimp and Brussels Sprouts ), bar service was very quick and the drink was absolutely drinkable (Old Fashioned) and (Caymus). L Prices are midpoint, so it’s perfect for a special occasion or when you feel like treating yourself. The platting is good but not picture perfect. The quantity of food they provide outweighs the platting any day.

The atmosphere was friendly, welcoming, and amazingly hospitable. If you’re looking for a nice night out, this should be on your list. I recommend it for romance, special occasions, self-pampering, business dinner, and milestone dinner.

Two of us with one drink each and one entree each was $125 before tip. Establishment was not aware of this review and no compensation was given.

This was definitely a try once and done. The prices vs the quality of food do not match. We had the crab cakes for starters those were decent. However, the burger that came out was soppy wet and fall apart. We had to ask for new burger buns. The steak bite sandwich was terrible. The quality of steak was the bottom. I couldn’t finish half of it. Everyone was friendly and it was very busy but it’s definitely not great dining.

Loved! Great food, service, atmosphere, but it is very noisy. If quiet is what you’re looking for this isn’t your place. Live music outdoors. The filet was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts were delish, the drinks were delish. We had several appetizers that were all good-don’t have pics: Calamari, spinach artichoke dip, ceviche and chips. Had specialty cocktails, everyone liked what they had.

Very underwhelming! For the price point, this place misses.
We decided to share 3 appetizers.
Calamari, Steak bites, and crab cakes

At first I thought they had brought out onion rings, that’s how large the calamari rings were.
They were soggy and sat in a puddle of oil.

The steak bites didn’t have any seasoning.

The crab cakes were mushy. Good size though.

While they call each sauce the items came with something different, all three were the exact same! Someone there sure likes chipotle.
Our server was very nice and she made great drink recommendations.
All in all, no need for us to go back. Total bill with two drinks $99

TL:DR – Great food, good service, if you’re reading reviews just go.

Stopped in for a birthday dinner date with my wife. Had heard good things so we decided to check it out. We were not disappointed.

We started with the Steak Bites. I’m not sure you could make steak bites any better. Perfectly tender, flavorful, and the sauce was a delicious addition.

The Paella and Chicken Francais special were also delicious. They don’t skimp on the protein portions and the price is still reasonable.

They threw in two mini cheesecakes for the birthday which was appreciated.

Service was good and they seem to be younger local residents which is good to see.

Plate has a great happy hour with good food and drink options. My husband and I enjoyed the house wine for $7 each, the steak taco and chicken quesadilla for $10 each. We were back for Happy Hour another time and I loved the BBQ sliders and the Pearvana cocktail. Yum! Our sons liked the steak burger and the pasta seafood dish (not on happy hour menu). Friendly service, too. Brooklin is wonderful!

Food is great. Ribeye, scallops, pork chops were well prepared, seasoning, taste. I think the entrees and sides could have been a bit warmer.
The wait staff was great. Very engaging, attentive. Well done. Everyone that came to table, water, drinks, bus table, etc..
Atmosphere was busy, louder than I would like. Two seat tables were wider than I would have liked – get a booth, for sure.
Drinks were well executed. Old fashioned had no muddling, though the taste didn’t really “need” a cherry or orange peel. Besides, old fashions come in many varieties and styles. Pineapple martini was good, score 7 out of 10.
Deserts were cheesecake flight and tiramisu. Flight was especially good, chocolate/caramel, key lime and pistachio? The tiramisu needed more cocoa on top, skip the cream and strawberries, but that’s me; you might like it.
Bathrooms were nice, clean, roomy. The lavatory sink really needs adjustment for hotter water. Really way too cold.
Parking is very open, though you may walk a little die to high demand between the grouping of the restaurants in that corner of the city.
I would definitely return.
