I wish I could give six stars for atmosphere. The the bar is in the basement of The Olde Pink House and features the brick walls, fireplaces and wooden beams of its 1771 basement. Unlike the restaurant above, which must be booked weeks in advance, the bar is walk-ins only. The menu is identical to the restaurant’s. Service is renowned for excellence and very friendly. This is perhaps the best spot in town, if you like dark, cozy, friendly, historic and delicious. Bonus: there are two intimate private rooms that used to be vaults.

If you want to get a glimpse of what a tavern in the 1700’s was like, this is for you. Dark, foreboding, yet kinda cozy. Service was excellent and the food was delicious!

You do not need a reservation for the Tavern as another user suggested. Of course, going early is recommended — we had to wait only a few minutes for a spot at the bar. Even on a Monday night in early February the Tavern was packed, and I quickly realized why:

The Flounder was exceptional, as were the greens and corn bread. If I could rate the atmosphere any higher, I would. The bar staff were friendly, knowledgable and made getting through a rush seem effortless. Cheers!

The Tavern offers the same menu as The Olde Pink House, FYI.

Fascinating and intriguing downstairs tavern underneath the classic old pink house. We came here for cocktails and to enjoy the music. We loved the piano player as well as the wonderful woman who was the vocalist.. really fun vibe with great people and a classic speakeasy style of candle lit and private spaces within the tavern.

Absolutely perfect experience! The server was an foodie expert and charming story teller to boot! The ambience is historical, gorgeous and cozy! And the food and drinks were scrumptious! The piano player downstairs was wonderful and very engaging! Truly one of my favorite restaurants/ bars that I’ve ever been!

Just to the left and down the stairs of The Olde Pink House is the Planters Tavern. Stopped by on a weekday evening for a cocktail after hearing from a ghost tour the basement was haunted, particularly the bathroom that at times guests are unable to open the door to exit. We had a brief 5 minute wait before our seats at the bar were available. The facilities were clean and had no issues exiting. Drinks were delicious and service attentive and friendly. Stop by for good drinks and historic vibes.

We went to the planters tavern prior to our reservations upstairs at The Olde Pink House. The atmosphere was amazing. It was like being transported to another time period. We were drinking pink ladies (highly recommend) on an old leather couch by a fire place.

We had been looking forward to returning to Planter’s since we booked our hotel for Christmas holiday. We were lucky enough to get booked into the Vault; a small room that was originally the vault in the building when it was a bank. It was super cool, and made the occasion even more special. The food and wine were fantastic as expected, and the service provided by manager Kurt outstanding. We love this place and look forward to next time we visit.

Came for the music, stayed for the she crab soup! The pasta and dessert were both incredible as well.

Loved sitting at a table near the piano as the live music played. Happy I wasn’t directly next to the music, as that may have been a little too loud.

The build out was phenomenal, made me feel like I was in an old world tavern.

Highly recommend this place for anyone trying to have a jazzy night out!

This place feels like something right out of the 1800s. The drinks and service really made it a great experience. The hostess initially estimated a wait time of over an hour, but quickly noticed a spot to squeeze us in, moved some chairs around, and got us seated within 5 minutes. This place can get pretty loud, so if you prefer a quieter speakeasy, this isn’t the best option. We sat directly next to the live music, but to be honest it only added to the ambience. We will be back soon!
