If you’re in Honolulu, Dole Plantain grill is a must-visit! I had the pork quesadilla, and it was fantastic—crispy, flavorful, and packed with tender pork. The pineapple was insanely juicy and sweet, perfectly balancing the savory dish. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was friendly. Great value for the quality! Highly recommend it for a tasty, tropical meal.

Our trip to The Plantation Grille at the Dole Plantation was really all about one thing, the legendary Dole Whip. And if you’re a fan of pineapple or tropical flavors in general, you’re in for a real treat. Imagine this: you’re handed a swirl of bright, golden-yellow goodness, almost too beautiful to eat, but too tempting to resist. With the first spoonful, you’re immediately transported to a place where pineapples taste sweeter, sunshine feels warmer, and tropical breezes are all around.

The Dole Whip itself is the perfect blend of creamy and refreshing, with a texture somewhere between soft serve and sorbet. It’s incredibly smooth, with a light, airy consistency that melts on your tongue, yet it’s rich with the intense, natural flavor of pineapple. Each bite balances just the right amount of sweetness and tang, creating a flavor that’s addictive but never overwhelming. It’s the kind of treat that’s ideal for a hot day, and honestly, it feels like a mini-vacation in a cup.

Aside from the Grille, the Dole Plantation itself is essentially a big shop selling Dole-themed souvenirs, from pineapple candies and jams to merchandise of all kinds. But the Dole Whip? That’s the true star of the show. It’s a must-try for anyone visiting the plantation—even if you just swing by for the Whip, you’ll leave satisfied. The Dole Whip is reason enough to make a stop here, and it’s sure to be a highlight of any Hawaiian adventure.

The soft serve cone tasted like cheap flavors. I expected better quality and taste at Dole. I ordered pineapple chili and it had meat in it, however in the menu it was not mentioned at all that it contains meat. The portion size was miniscule for the price.

An Oahu visit must always include a quick stop to get a large cup of Dole whip.

We walk on the outside of the building to get to the back and enter to get to the ordering line faster.

The Dole whip soft serve on this particular trip (Dec 2024) seemed much more creamy and less melty than our previous trips (Mar 2023). It also seemed to be a little less pineapple flavored.
While I really appreciated the creaminess and ability to be more solid, I missed the pineapple flavor. (Website says that the base is coconut cream.)

Still, I visit Oahu more often than I go to any Disney park… So I’ll probably keep visiting for my creamy soft serve treat!

i’m so lost on the hype for this dole whip; the pineapple fruit topping is delectable but the soft serve is practically a sheet of white bedding.. not much flavour, just creamy sugar doing the bare minimum with staff playing ping pong with our order till someone finally made it mid-shift crisis.

I don’t know where to start, for starters the Pineapple Express was an awesome little train ride through Doles plantation history. We spent a good portion of the day waiting for the train but was certainly worth the wait. We had the opportunity to indulge in the very well cooked food at the restaurant. We ordered the teriyaki plate, the Hawaiian Pizza, and the single order of crinkle cut French fries. The fries portion will feed three people by itself. The fries were perfectly made and was crispy and hot when served. The Soft Served Pineapple ice cream with pineapple tidbits were the best, I can’t believe how delicious it was. We had to reorder the ice cream and had another portion of the delicious Hawaiian pizza. The lines were pretty long but the service was fast. Oh my gosh I can only say you have to try this place if you haven’t already tried. I’m sure folks that have been there before will agree with my assessment of the entire “Dole” experience. I want to go back soon and experience it again. It was a vacation I will never forget. Definitely a highlight of Honolulu.

Very standard, expected cafeteria food. My wife and I split a BBQ kalua quesadilla that sounded better than it tasted. Around $18 but it was enough for the 2 of us. Of course had to get the Dole whip. Unfortunately we realized pineapple soft serve is not quite what we hoped it would be. The sour taste prevented us from finishing it easily. Almost like a biological thing. It looked good though. We got the Dole whip with toppings which I recommend since the toppings are fresh tasting pineapple pieces. The float was interesting. It’s pineapple soft serve with pineapple juice. It was easier to drink than to eat. Tried adding some soda from our quesadilla order and it didn’t really make it better haha. $20 for both Dole whip orders. Ouch. But you are at Dole…

Top stars for uniqueness. The “souvenir” shop is a must check-out. The dole ice cream, which was pineapple based, of course, was extremely sweet but fun to try. The tour itself isn’t a must but it’s something to do. Kid friendly for sure.

Came to Dole Plantation Grille and glad we did for the experience! We tried the pineapple Dole with real pineapple chunks—way too sweet for me, but still fun to try.

Definitely a tourist spot (hence why we came ) and it’s busy with lots of foot traffic. The food lines can get super long, but the wait for the Dole Whip is lightning fast—they pump them out constantly. Plenty of shopping to do here too!

Great food all around! Yes, it can be busy at times, but the lines are many at different counters and the lines move quickly.

The Kailua Pork Quesadilla is an absolute MUST have once there! The Pork itself is savory and moist, literally melts in your mouth; not oily at all whatsoever. The spinach quesadilla is truly a nice blend, but the pineapple salsa is just incredible to add with it for dipping….one of the best quesadilla’s ever!!!

Dole whip is of course another MUST get, but I would highly recommend the chocolate covered pineapple is tasty with every bite; they do run out though so get them early if you can.

Plenty of places to eat outside or inside. Good quick food!!!
