I came to Michigan for a family reunion and decided to take a quick drive to see Lake Michigan. I wanted dinner at a restaurant with a view, so I Googled and found Planks. At my first glance, the menu didn’t seem to “Wow” me. But, honey let me tell you, the food did WOW me!

Food was very good. We had reservations for 11 on a Sunday and arrived around 10:30 and didn’t have to wait. We ordered promptly and didn’t have to wait long for the order to come out. I had the chicken and biscuits, with an over easy egg. My husband had the hash and eggs which he enjoyed as well.

This place never disappoints. Fish is great. Cocktails were on point. The wine was delish. Each time I go to St. Joseph, this is a destination to eat. The weather was great too.

Destiny was our waitress. She was very kind and attentive. We split the grilled chicken wrap and Nashville chicken sandwich. Both were fantastic. The Nashville chicken was the best I’ve ever had. It had a very generous amount of tangy hot sauce on it. It was super crispy yet very juice inside. The wrap had a great corn salsa in it. We sat outside which overlooked the lake, so we had the company of boats passing by.
