Not just for science aficionados and more than a museum snack bar. Looking for a super tasty place that serves lights bites, this is your place. We had hot sandwiches, the Kuiper Belt Cuban & The Big Dipper. The Big Dipper was the winner but both were tasty. The bread is toasted with farmhouse butter and parmeasian cheese making it crisp outside and soft inside. The Cuban was a good take on the original, tasty & spicy. No fries, but the pasta salad was freshly made and a better choice than bagged chips. View, especially in the evening, is killer and worth the drive. Did get some cookies and they are priced at $3 and bargain. Location, location, location; best patio in town.

The Neptuna and the Final Frontier Fog were so good!! Homemade focaccia was amazing and you can’t beat the convenience if you’re already at the observatory. The kids loved the cookies and hot chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. Loved the space themed names as well.

Great little cafe within Lowell Observatory with friendly service. I had the ‘Cosmic Carnitas’ sandwich with a side of potato salad for dinner – both items were really good.

I feel like most museums and similar institutions only offer cold, prepackaged food. Planet X Cafe has many food/drink options hot and cold – it’s also nice to eat there without having to leave the observatory.

Planet X is reasonably priced and quite tasty, especially considering it’s within an attraction like Lowell. I’m glad they partnered with Jitters rather than serving your typical cafeteria-museum fare. Definitely easy and worth doing lunch or dinner there while you’re already visiting the observatory.

For many years, I always felt that Lowell needed a place where people could sit and enjoy a meal. I have visited many museums and made it a goal to try the food at their establishments. Most museums only have a café with simple offerings. However, I was blown away when I tried the grilled cheese with the pasta salad. I paired it with a fizzy pomegranate green tea, and it was perfect.

I’ve since tried multiple items on their menu and loved them all. The potato salad is my favorite side dish, and the Turkey Tombaugh sandwich is my top choice so far. It’s not your typical turkey sandwich—it includes cheese, artichokes, and a slightly spicy mayonnaise, all grilled to perfection.

I have had 3 great meals at the Planet X cafe. The staff is friendly and the food is very good. I appreciate the prompt service and the convenience of not have to leave the Astronomy Discovery Center to get lunch or dinner. We really liked their cookies. They also have great WiFi.
