The food was actually good when they first opened. Not anymore. Don’t waste your money. I don’t know if they’re just dumb or lazy..maybe both. Ordered shrimp fettuccine. Picked it up and it was noodles, red tomatoes, and cheese. PAID for shrimp. Called them and they couldn’t give a reason why and said they were closing. Stopped ordering their pizza because it just doesn’t taste good anymore. Italian cuisine.. nope, 5 year old could do better.

Plain Jane’s was a hit with our family. The pizza was delicious and the calzone was huge! They had a refrigerated counter with various desserts to choose from also. The inside of the restaurant is very minimalist but that works just fine for a pizza joint where you order at the counter. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The drive thru seems to crank people through. There were a few parking spots out front but heard there was an auxiliary lot in the back. We will be back for sure.

Plain Jane’s is seriously the best restaurant for pizza that i’ve ever eaten at. Their food is 10/10!!!! I genuinely have never eaten such mouth watering food in my entire life. The pizza is so good and my absolute favorite is the one with bacon and pepperoni. The bacon they use is so delicious and the crust they make hand made is so thick and crisp and perfect. Absolutely perfect. Right before writing this I saw a bad review about the health of the place but ACTUALLY they are the most cleanly place i’ve ever eaten at and they got a 98% on their health check. They are a very family friendly place and so kind. For REAL you won’t regret eating there. Go eat at Plain Jane’s rn

Update: I spoke with the owner, problem resolved. We will definitely give them another chance to make it right. Trying to run a business in a small town sure isn’t easy. But, thank you John (and your staff) for fixing the problem!! It even looked better. Thank you again

We gave them a second chance. We had been getting chicken bacon ranch pizzas half with no onion. and they were phenomenal. Ordered the same tonight. Then, we got handed an onion pizza light onion on half and it was terrible. I didn’t want heavy onion. I wrote on the order “one half with no onion please”…. The food is not consistent at all. We’re done.

We love this family owned little piece of pizza heaven in Hartsville! The Mom and Dad run this place very well. You can tell the dough is handmade, and the food is always excellent. The service and friendliness of the staff is top notch, and you feel right at home. You have to take a dessert home to eat later. If you haven’t been here, then you are missing out.

We had a party of seven, three separate tickets. Ordered pizzas, calzone, Stromboli, and a sub. It was all very good and they were very large portions. Had a bit of wait for it but that led us to believe everything was cooked to order, not “fast” food. Not much on “ambiance”, seems they are more suited to take out/drive thru and there was a bit of a chemical smell in the air. Found out they’d been painting bathrooms that day. But all in all, worth a second visit as the food and service were great. Oh, yes, apparently they made a mistake on one of pizzas and gave the folks a fresh one to take home, free of charge.

I’ve eaten here and unfortunately found the pizza to be quite mediocre. It’s cooked using a conveyor belt system, which doesn’t do much for flavor or quality. What’s more concerning is the lack of basic food safety protocols. I observed on Facebook the staff prepping, cooking, and plating food without gloves, and no one in the kitchen was wearing hair nets. When I mentioned in the post my concerns I was blocked. So, I will now review on Google.
As an Executive Chef with over 30 years in the industry, this is deeply troubling. Proper hygiene and food handling practices are essential—not optional. What I saw here does not meet the standards any professional kitchen should uphold.
If there’s one thing they nailed, it’s the name. “Plain Jane” truly reflects the food and the overall experience.

What amazes me now is that since my review 7 hours ago they now have 17 new reviews all in the same exact time frame. 16 from 4 hours and one from 6 hours. That to me is deceiving and deceptive. It’s literally impossible!! Now they are selling false information. Very sad. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

It’s as if a curtain suddenly dropped, revealing a chorus of reviews all lined up like actors stepping into a spotlight on cue. The synchronicity feels more orchestrated than organic—casting a long shadow over their authenticity.”

Food is awesome and portions are plentiful. It is a good, small place to sit (or take out) a simple Italian meal, not fancy!

All I can say is just go get some food. I don’t think it really matters what you get, the food is going to be great. We got there about 45 minutes before they opened. They didn’t send us away empty handed. They told us to go on in and they would make our order. I guess you could say they are good people also!!

By far the best pizza in town. The Big John ( new Yorker) is big enough to feed my family of five. John the owner is very kind and always makes you feel appreciated and important ❤️. By far my favorite restaurant. Thank you for being awesome and caring. It’s rare, the cannolis are to die for. It’s a must try if you ask me. So if you are looking for quality service and great authentic Italian cuisine plain Jane’s is the place to go.
