Tucked in a hip neighborhood with cottage lined streets is Korean owned and operated, @pizzerialola
Appropriately named after the owner’s dog. For the past 15 years they have been burning wood to cook the best Italian style pizza I have ever had.
If you sit at the bar you can watch it cook and see how smoothly the kitchen operates while they prep the pizza.
Have you ever heard of sea salt and olive oil on ice cream? Me neither, but they make the soft serve in house and use a quality oil. The flavor blends together in a way you will never forget. I INSIST that you try this.
If you ask me it’s like you dropped New York City in the Midwest. A sprawling landscape of tightly packed neighborhoods making up the greater twin City area. People’s influences from all over the world come together in an under-appreciated city.
This place has been on our list of places to visit and was so glad we did! Cute place and cozy atmosphere.
Did not like the Chocolate budino. It had a texture that was way too thick and the dessert was pretty bitter from the chocolate and needed more sugar
With Young Joni closed as of Saturday, Pizzeria Lola was our memorial stop for great pie.
We grabbed seats at the bar to connect with the friendly staff and talk all things pizza. Shared great memories of YJ, potential flavor additions to existing pies and brunch worthy drinks.
The Korean BBQ pizza was an easy first choice due to the pop of those flavors. We the partnered it with the amazing flavor of the Sunnyside (liquid chicken – Guy!).
Then again I’ve never had the pleasure of eating at a James Beard-award-winning restaurant.
Nor have I ordered wings as a dessert before until going to Pizzeria Lola.
That’s right.
We had the calabrian chili wings, ate pizza and had the wings a second time.
The pizza was great and why we went there while also chasing a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives experience.
But make no mistake the wings were the star. The best I’ve had.
And there isn’t a second one even close.
Tender.
Perfect heat. Enough to change the body temp but not to where sweat breaks out on the brow.
Flavor was unique, memorable and tantiilized the buds. All of them. Twice even.
So yea.
Wings can be exquisite.
