One unexpected highlight was the bread. The bun for the burger and the roll for the veal parm were rustic and delicious.
Pizza was yummy. Only 1 slice was burned and had a bit of charcoal on it. Otherwise the taste was good. I think the dough should be just a little thicker. Sauce and cheese are fine.
Drink selection is pretty good, both coke and pepsi products with lots of teas too and lemonade. I would like to see Joe’s tea too.
The decoration and theme if this restaurant is awesome! I love the rustic cabin theme with all wood furniture, walls, floors and even cut logs used as accents in the kitchen room.
Cons: on a cold night like tonight, only the table closest to the artificial fireplace is warm. All the other tables are freezing with a cold draft blowing through. This place could use some modern insulation or updated HVAC system to help equalizie the air temperature. Thermostat above my table says 68, but it is chilly here!
Part of the heating problem is the high ceilings.. hot air rises and gets trapped up top which leaves the seating area very chilly.
The second problem with the heating is that the entrance is not double sealed.. the main door leads directly to the cold outside with nothing to stop the cold air from rushing in every time the door opens.
2 easy solutions.. #1 double seal the main entrance so the customer enters a cold trap small room where outside air gets trapped and heated. Lock the second entrance (kitchen area), or double seal it as well. Then when someone enters or leaves, only warmed air from the trap room can enter the seating area.
#2, turn on the 3 ceiling fans on slow speed with the blades pushing air downward. This will force the trapped ceiling air to come down.
Reliable location to get good quality italian food.
The pizza here is thin, it’s crisp, and its fantastic. The sauce has a natural sweetness with a little bit of tart and a nice garlic and basil flavor to it. The cost is right in line with any other pizza in the area and it smokes most of them handily. Can’t wait for the other location to reopen this spring!
