For over a decade, my wife has navigated life with Celiac disease. If you’ve ever watched someone you love search desperately for truly great gluten-free pizza or even decent breadsticks. You know the disappointment that usually follows. Most places offer a cardboard-like substitute that makes you miss the real thing even more.
Then We Found Pizza Uncommon
The name says it all: Pizza Uncommon. Once you taste it, you’ll wish it was more common. I’m serious, it’s the kind of place you’d want in every town.
When my wife took her first bite, here’s what she said: “Gluten-free pizza AND cheesy bread!!!! My first GF cheesy bread in over a decade of being GF.”
Let that sink in. A decade without cheesy bread.
What Makes It Different?
Pizza Uncommon isn’t your typical pizza joint. Their menu is a perfect blend of traditional favorites and wildly creative options. Crab rangoon pizza, anyone? Yes, they have it. And yes, it’s delicious.
When I walked in for the first time, Shianne greeted me with genuine warmth. She patiently answered all my questions and effortlessly accommodated my wife’s gluten-free needs. The pizza arrived exactly when promised, and we both loved it. They also offer a great selection of ice cream, including gluten-free options.
Let’s Talk About the Elephant in the Room
The food is truly delicious, but I need to be honest with you: the prices are significantly higher than your average pizza place. This isn’t Domino’s or Papa John’s. It’s unique, boutique, and crafted with care.
A ten-inch pizza, any variety, costs $17. The gluten-free breadsticks are $8 for a half order of four sticks.
So, Is It Worth It?
Absolutely yes.
My wife declared it one of the best gluten-free options she’s ever had. Pizza Uncommon now sits alongside her longtime favorites: Jets and Monical’s. That’s not a small accomplishment.
If you want something different and delicious, served with exceptional customer service by people who genuinely care, check out Pizza Uncommon. You might just find yourself wishing, like we do, that they were more common in every city.
Wife and I stopped in at Pizza Uncommon around 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Friends had recommended that we check it out.
It wasn’t that busy, so we could take our time at the ordering counter and look over our options of specialty pizzas and ask questions.
We decided to buy a 16” 1/2 vodka sausage and 1/2 hot honey pepperoni pizza, along with garlic cheesy sticks with nacho cheese. My wife got a Diet Coke and I had water.
They started getting busier after we placed our order, but it didn’t take too long to get our food.
They first brought out our breadsticks and cheese. They were hot, cooked well, well-seasoned, and delicious.
Our pizza came out a few minutes later. The crust was thin with a light flavor that let the cheese, sauce and toppings shine through.
This restaurant is new and clean. The staff were friendly and happily answered our first-timer questions. This seems like a good place for families with kids or a casual date, as they also offer ice cream.
It was a little on the pricey side in my
estimation. With tax and a small tip it was $47. If I lived nearby I would probably come back regularly. If you like multiple topping specialty pizzas, you might want to try them out.
……
This pizza was by far the best pizza I’ve ever had. The gluten free pizza was the biggest one I’ve seen and it was also amazing. We placed an order at 4:30 to be ready at 6:30 and didn’t get our pizza until around 7pm but I know they’re still working out the kinks. We will definitely ordering again and again. I can’t wait to try their ice cream.
Only other complaint is that it can be tough to find seating for even a small group of 3 due to the layout of their shop. It looks like they have what is intended to be a bar area but is just being used as box storage instead. It’s taking up a lot of valuable space that could be used for more tables.
