Probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. There are several allergies that I have to avoid and they were very knowledgeable and accommodating for me. I always appreciate that. And to top it off, the food was excellent! I ordered the Chipotle Barbecue Cauliflower and the Hot Honey (no bacon) Brussel sprouts (sorry I had already eaten majority of it)

Buyer beware. We ordered Pizza Payaa regularly since its open but after our last order and the subsequent interaction with management we won’t go again.
We ordered a 3-Cheese Basil pizza. We’ve had it before and we like it. It comes with chewy caramelized cheese edges. You can see we posted a picture of the pizza as it appears on the menu.
The pizza we got was a huge departure from what we usually receive and looked quite a bit different from the menu photo. There was about 50% of the sauce and cheese advertised/usually served. You can see in the photos that there are bare edges of an inch in some areas. Additionally the cheese edge was just a very light sprinkle of cheese (not consistent with what we usually receive) that had completely burnt and even was just burnt black in some spots. Crunchy, hard, and burnt- not browned and caramelized.
Mistakes happen, cool, so I reached out with photos and figured that given what we are paying and Pizza Payaa’s general good reputation, it would be no problem to have the bad pizza addressed.
Nope, the manager I was speaking with is telling me that the pizza I received is completely normal. They even told me that the blackened, hard edges are flavorful and tasty. Again, we have had this pizza, we know what it should be like and it is obviously not right if you look at it.
We would have been fine if they had just been able to admit that a bad pizza left the kitchen, but they are committed to making us think it’s OUR PROBLEM is just crazy to me. At over $20 for a small pizza, the least you can do is make sure your menu matches what is being served. This place will go under, I know I’ll share my bad experience with every friend and family member I have.

Interesting concept at Pizza Payaa in Bloomington-Normal. The pizza felt more Detroit-style, roughly a 6×11 or 6×12 size. A bit pricey for what it was, and they seemed short-staffed, but the family had a great time overall.

First time here. We did make reservations. We were greeted and sat as soon as we walked in. The service was friendly and fast. We both ordered a drink from their special drink list. They were delicious. We ordered bread bits and both ordered pizza. Everything was served hot and tasty. I would definitely recommend.

I ordered my food to go and waited inside while my order was being prepared. The guy behind the bar was very friendly and kept my water filled while I waited! I got the honey badger pizza and buffalo wings. Everything tasted great! I would’ve liked just a little more sauce on the wings, but this was a very good first experience. I’ll definitely be back!

Great variety for all taste buds. Everything was cooked perfectly, and is always sinfully delicious. Our group has tried three types of pizza, one of the salads, and several appetizers. Always well satisfied with the food here!

I was in town for work and craving pizza. I have to eat GF and this place had good reviews for their GF pizza. So I ordered it for take out. When I got back to my hotel, I was so excited. This pizza smelled and looked delicious! I’m excited to say it tasted just as good. It was in one of the best GF pizzas I’ve ever had! The crust was divine. I come to Bloomington for work often, and I can’t wait to have this pizza again. Wonderful.

We went in the afternoon and the place was empty, but the host seemed in a real rush to get us on our way. Friendly, but forced. Like there was something more important to do.
The pizza was alright. Really fresh ingredients and cooked well. No issues there. The crust was Detroit style (super thick and kinda spongy). The edges were so crispy they were sharp – not super enjoyable for either of us.
Overall it was good pizza, but best in town? I don’t know. Everyone’s going to like different things. The environment didn’t feel super welcoming, so I doubt we’d go back. Still definitely worth a try if you haven’t had it! And for others, maybe it really is the best. ☺️

Some great options for both pizza and salads. Pizza is Detroit style and the toppings are creative and delicious. Nothing either predictable or outrageous here but you’ll find something interesting for sure. Great for small or large groups too. Plenty of seating.
