Wish I could give this classic Anchorage restaurant a better review—one that squared with my past recollections and other’s current reviews—but I cannot.
Yes, the main courses were very good. The marinara is a refreshing take, sweeter than typical restaurant fare. Alfredo nice and creamy. Pasta delightful.
However, besides our ample water refills, our service was lacking. We were never provided the bread that should have come with our meals. We were never asked whether we would like another beverage after our initial order. We were not offered dessert. (And all this on Valentine’s Day, with a reservation; and, they had some open tables, so they were not exactly pushing capacity.)
While the decor remains their authentic yet eccentric Mediterranean, with ample statuary and pottery perched among alcoves lit by the odd chandelier, what brought the atmosphere down a notch was the desiccated seat backs. These need refurbishing for comfort and sightliness.
Love that Pizza Olympia is still around, but next time I’ll just do take out.

We have now dined here twice in the last month. The food is so good and fresh whether you’re looking for Greek or Italian dishes. The salads are huge and amazing. I also love the spanikapita and the fresh homemade bread. But the best part was the genuine family owned atmosphere. We will be going back soon.

The restaurant is basically empty, and the two customers that were there with me in the restaurant, must be friends. They cut me in line as I was trying to pay, because they’re “friends.”(Rude) The restaurant is clean for the most part. I asked the server what was a item on the menu she told me to “ask the cook.” That’s not a good look. But she did offer water as I waited because I ordered to go, that’s a plus. The waiter is cool, she just doing a service. The cooks are doing great because I don’t care if it takes 30 minutes as long as it. The food is amazing long story short. Their bad mistake, is mixing Friends and Family with business.

Inside has a great atmosphere, photos of Greece, and clean. Service was okay, was looking forward to one dish in particular was out so had to make a quick decision, bread is always delicious as well the fresh Salads! Would recommend if you’re into trying some authentic Greek food in Alaska.

For several years every time I came in from the bush I made it a point to stop for one if the best gyros. I came back to Anchorage last nite to visit and this was my first stop. The owners are beyond friendly and hospitable, even remembering me after 3+ years. I can’t speak highly enough of them…

I dined here with my partners in life. Had a great time, enjoyed the music and the lady was so nice. I couldn’t help mentioning how much I loved everything, and honestly I wanted her to know how much I loved the atmosphere, the quality of the food, and the service! I learned that she had made the wine herself and I could taste some of the ingredients. I loved the flavor profile of the wine and food! Definitely will go on a date with my partners here again.

We dined at the Pizza Olympia by chance, after leaving another “restaurant” that was closer to our hotel; but, ended up being a loud bar with horrible service. This was an absolute blessing! The Pizza Olympia served us the best pizza we’ve ever had, and our server/hostess was absolutely charming. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! This is a family-run business that show pride in what they do, and that’s a rare thing these days. 100% recommend!!!

Excellent food! It was hard to decide because the menu had so many great options but the food was rich and flavorful, the ambience was great and the service was fantastic. The gyro pizza and shrimp scampi were absolutely delightful! Make sure to bring your appetite!
