Located at 115 S. Union Street, the new shop is nestled among restaurants and boutiques, just steps away from King Street and the Potomac River waterfront. Pitango’s Old Town location serves 20 rotating gelato and sorbet flavors crafted with a traditional Italian Carpigiani freezer. In addition to frozen treats, Pitango Gelato & Coffee in Old Town will serve a full menu of premium coffees, along with a variety of croissants, cookies, scones and pastries made in-house daily. Croissants are hand-rolled at Pitango Bakery & Café, then proofed and baked fresh onsite in Alexandria.

Came to try their affogato-great presentation and strong flavor. The coffee cake slices are generous, but the menu items are on the pricey side. The guy who helped us was really nice, and there’s plenty of window seating. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Had to leave a 5-star review to balance out the bad reviews from blue-haired Karens who get offended if you even look at them in a way they perceive as discriminatory. This place is great, the workers are super friendly and make good conversation, nice atmosphere, and most of all GREAT coffee (I don’t eat Gelato). They deserve a higher rating than 4.6, this is in my top 2 favorite spots in Old Town. Highly reccomended, you won’t be dissapointed unless you’re offended that employees get to use the restroom without buying anything (yes, that’s why someone left a 1-star review!)

Great coffee drinks and fresh pastries made daily in-house. The almond croissant is amazing! Try a cortado, which is served “al vetro” (in glass, not ceramic) which is appreciated most by coffee purists. All of the staff seem to put some love into pulling your espresso, rather than rushing to the next customer. They know good service! They also have an open air bar for fresh air when the season allows (see my photo)—it makes the ambiance really nice.

I’ve never posted a review anywhere before but this place was the exception. They serve delicious coffee IN A MUG (if you want it for dine-in) and they will grind beans if you purchase a bag from them. They have some fantastic looking goodies in their case which I will try next time!

Super clean shop, great staff, who serve amazing gelato! Right in old town! We had the Sicilian pistachio, FONDENTE (SINGLE-ORIGIN DARK CHOCOLATE GELATO) and the affogato with of course pistachio.
