What a delicious delightful surprise! This little gem is inside the Lukeoil gas station quick marketplace. Past the grab and go items in the back is where you’ll find the cheerful staff who were very patient with me as I ask questions about the menu. I settled on the chicken orzo soup which was like my grandma’s. Velvety smooth and loaded with chicken, carrots and celery and onions. The pita sandwich I chose was the lamb. It was delicious by itself, but when my toppings ( lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, feta, onions,) were added along with tahini sauce it delivered to a new level. Hot sauce on the side so I could control that next level experience…. sandwich was big and the pita was beyond good. Definitely give this gas station spot a try – it’s not typical gas station dining.

Honestly from the outside I was a little suspicious but 100/10 I’ve been here three days in a row since. It’s delicious and light and everything is so Fresh. The falafels are to die for

Did this look suspicious when I searched for “food” while traveling for work? It did. A pita store inside a LUKEOIL gas station (what is that, I’m from Delaware??). But alas, the competing options were WaWa and Applebees – I’m much more of a risk taker than that, so Pita Pocket here I come.

Exterior: well-maintained but no thrills. Suspicion remains…

Interior: the floors were as clean as the St. Patrick’s church I recently visited. The product placement was perfect across each aisle.

But in the back stood the holy grail – the Pita Pocket. A menu curated for the hungry traveler with a well-ordained palette.

Behind the glass lies the freshest diced vegetables, stews and soup this side of the Mississippi. I ordered the chicken kabob pita sandwich and much to my surprise a perfectly seasoned chicken skewer was tossed over a fiery open flame.

Folks, get down here and get a pita. Holy smokes. The sandwich is just as saucy as the lady cooking it up.

Not to mention the staff and locals seemingly hanging out for a good time greeted me like I was a visiting Michelin judge.

5/5 across the board.

Absolutely delicious!!! The best falafel ever! It was flavorful and fried to perfection. I asked for the sauces on the side. I like to dip my falafel.

My husband had the beef kabob pita pocket. It is delicious! The bread is fresh, the beef is seasoned perfectly and the toppings are crisp. He loved it!

We ordered the beef stew over rice platter too and it was delicious as well. The beef was tender, moist and the flavors were delicious. The salad is fresh and crisp.

The cooks are friendly and they can cook! Everything is made to order. This place is definitely a hidden gem! The absolute best gas station food we ever had! Do yourself a favor and go get some!

Soooo I was on my way to Reading Terminal Market to grab dinner but came across a post by J.L. Jupiter and changed directions. I’ve driven past this gas station at least 100+ times and had no idea what was beyond the front doors. My stewed beef platter over rice was amazingly delicious!! It came with a side salad and had plenty of options for toppings too. The food prep/ serving area is very clean and service was prompt and courteous. There are two small round high top tables indoors and two picnic tables outside for seating. All of the meat they use is Halal (Kosher). You will not be disappointed!!

When we arrived on a Sat. afternoon several people were ahead of us in line which along with the reviews i read assured me that this place would be good. Hubby had the lamb pita and I had the falafel pita. Both delicious! Who would have thought such amazing ethnic food and so fresh at a local mini mart! We will definitely be back. Only drawback was the gentleman helping us had a heavy accent and with the boom box blaring, I had a difficulty hearing/understanding what he was asking me.

Awesome Mediterranean food. I highly recommend it. Ignore that it’s in a gas station mart. Pita pockets, bowls, wraps, platters are exceptional. My whole family were very impressed.

This place has no business being as good as it is considering it’s located in a gas station. One of the best falafel sandwiches I’ve ever had. Wow. They also offer premade PB&J sandwiches, which I find fascinating!

Update: I returned to try the shawarma and this time around was met with extremely hostile service. I guess I got on the guy behind the counters bad side by politely asking for grilled veggies on my shawarma pita. It clearly says on the menu that it’s included with this item (see picture) so I didn’t think this was a crazy ask. He then tried to aggressively argue with me that it was a higher price for grilled veggies. Which honestly I wouldn’t care if it was but it clearly states on your own menu that it’s included and at what cost. He literally came around the counter to read his own menu because I guess… he didn’t believe me? From there he glares at me while angrily making my pita and wouldn’t let me pick what other ingredients I wanted. He put things on the two pitas I ordered without asking, and then completely ignored me when I asked for other things. Never coming here again. It’s absolutely ridiculous to treat people this way, this was so unnecessary.

Destination dining hidden in a humble gas station.

A friendly gentleman behind the counter treated my coworker and I to a sample of their delightful freshly-made falafel dressed with a tasty white sauce and fresh herbs while we decided what to eat for lunch — true hospitality! I tried a chicken kebab pita and lentil soup, both were absolutely delicious. This place is punching way above its weight class in the gas station dining game. Loved the smokey flavor of the tender chicken, the garlic white sauce, and the crisp fresh veggies packed into the lightly roasted pita. My coworker had a pita with lamb and tahini and gave that two thumbs up as well. What a gem. Next time we’re coming for that shawarma!

Solid meal. Place was jammed. Worth the wait. Each dish was packed with flavor. This is a staple and will go into the rotation moving forward. Had to include pics as you would never ever guess food like this is coming out this place.
