This was my first time trying this restaurant, and the gyro itself was really good, great flavor and no complaints about the sandwich.
The problem was the portion sizes. When the lady asked what I wanted for my side, I chose vegetables instead of fries because I was trying to be healthy. What I didn’t expect was to literally receive five pieces of vegetables. That is their actual portion — five pieces. For a meal that cost over $15 (plus tip, and no drink included), that just doesn’t feel fair or filling. If I had known the portion was that small, I would’ve chosen something else.
When I mentioned it, they gave me fries to make up for it which I appreciated but it still didn’t change the fact that their “standard portion” of vegetables is extremely small for the price.
And the statement on the box saying the meal “may make you excessively happy” was definitely a stretch. The sandwich tasted good, but the overall meal left me hungry, not excessively happy.
I would try the sandwich & the fries again, because the flavor was good, but I would probably go to another Mediterranean street-food spot where the portion sizes match the price.
The food has potential, but the portion sizes and communication need improvement. First-time customers should leave satisfied, not wondering why their side dish had fewer pieces than a kid’s snack.
I was Jonesin’ for a gyro a while back, & did a quick search and found Pita Mediterranean Street Food in Smyrna. The area is really nice where it’s located. I walked in and ordered. Looking around, the place is pretty nice! There’s plenty of seating, it was clean, and the utensil dispenser is pretty cool!
The lady at the register took my order, and I took some videos while I waited.
Not gonna lie! Based on the pictures I was pretty excited (even though I knew I was gonna have to knock off that cheese and lettuce! Once I did though; there wasn’t much meat and what there was of it wasn’t much flavor. In truth the meat tasted like it was cut with some other kind of meat, and the Tzatziki sauce was just ok for me.
I didn’t look at the menu long enough to see what other sammies they sold. I’d check them out again for something other than a gyro because of location and cleanliness of the restaurant.
The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall great atmosphere.
Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
We took advantage of the Monday $9 gyro special (normally $12.45) that came with a side. We had chicken, beef, and chicken/beef gyros. We ordered two with fries, and one with a garbanzo salad. Personally I recommend this salad over the fries. Nice garlic sauce with onion slivers. My son loves fast food and gave a two thumbs up over his empty plate.
Next time we will go on a Tuesday for the $9 falafel special!
From the choice of sides (rice, salad, or fries), I always go with the fries because they’re well seasoned with a fun paprika-heavy mix without going erring into the realm of oversaltedness. A surprising highlight of our meal were the triangles of pita bread that came with my husband’s gyro platter. These were warmed and well toasted on the outside, while somehow maintaining all the fluffiness on the inside. Clearly, Pita Mediterranean knows how to do their namesake flatbread right.
We’ve never had trouble with parking or seats here, both of which are aplenty. I find the service to be particularly warm and friendly, with one server even offering us a sample baklava to try after our meal.
I came here after work to eat inside. The staff was friendly. They seem to have the option of whether or not to wear a mask. Same for the customers. Food was on par with other locations.
