Cool, old spot, my first time there. I love the country feeling. I was told it was the first day under new ownership. The service was fast and friendly. The food was hot and delicious. I had the fried chicken lunch special. The restroom was clean, but the hot water seemed to not be working. I would happily eat there again.

Fantastic fried chicken. The bread their chicken in a well seasoned flour and fry to order. The chicken livers were awesome too. We stopped by the other day. This is a nice no frills restaurant with a full service bar. The seating is a little tight. They have a salad bar. The soups are pleasant. The bacon mushroom swiss burger was good as well. We will return.

I wanted to like it. I like to support small businesses but there was nothing redeemable here. The food was not good. Service was slow and did not come ask how the food was or if we needed anything. Other customers nearby appeared drunk, shouting profanity and the business did nothing to quiet them. The music was loud. My 15 year old who eats everything didn’t even want to eat it. I left my entire meal. $$ wasted. I do not recommend. —- edited to add they did remove the 2 meals after seeing we didn’t eat them. Maybe it was an off night for them.

This place has been a favorite of mine for decades. They have the best fried chicken in town. Carry-out available. Monday night wing night is a staple for us. Specials throughout the week. Great choices. Soup and salad bar is wonderful and the pie selection is scrumptious. Check out the Pioneer for a beer or your next delicious meal.

Drove all the way from Florida to the Christmas holiday . After a 12 hour drive was wanting a nice dinner . Was we entered the building looking for a table noticed there was setting up some live music . As I approached the waitress to request a table I was received by a nasty old waitress screaming “ No tables available all are reserved. Left with such a deception of this business. Hope to meet nicer people in this town.

Kills me to say this, but our experience was horrible at this establishment. This was our second time their and is for sure our last. First time we went it was actually good, but I have no idea what went downhill this time. We waited nearly a half hour for our food, and didn’t even get our appetizers. Once we got our food, it was luke warm and didn’t even taste that good probably because they had different cooks than last time. At this point we wanted our money back. Our waitress was as sweet as sugar to us and definitely did not deserve to run things by herself as she was the only waitress there. Its the fault of the cooks for lollygagging and not doing their job the way they should!! I’ll never go back.

Went to this fun Cafe for chili cheese fries, onion rings and mozzarella sticks, fried chicken, and a pounded flat breaded & fried pork steak in a bun with a biscuit covered in country gravy. The whole lot was delicious. The service smiling and excellent, a great place to have really good food. Just added a pic of the fried chicken livers.

Found this place some (3) years ago. Yesterday, 7/20/25, was our third visit as we passed through. It is a casual (hole in the wallesk) BIG TREAT. Their menu is all over the place but there is something for everyone. ((Also, they don’t roll up their sidewalks at 8 or 9 P.M. That added bonus seemed to disappear in this country a few years back.))
Their prices are reasonable and my Walleye sandwich was made to my specifications and was to die for. My friend had biscuits and gravy that was really tasty that you can get whenever they are open. We probably arrived around 9 P.M. and left around 10:15 P.M. He said his Sweet Tea was just like he would remember in early days.
The bar has some interesting choices but probably could use a little updating in product. My single cocktail was mixed with some homemade pink lemonade.
I visited the restroom before I left and it was quite clean for the end of a long day. That was much appreciated as that isn’t always the case in the general area.
Lastly, I saw some hardworking people in there and I’m hoping the newest owners of this 50+ year old establishment will survive this brutal economy as I would like to come again and ring the bell of approval as I exit the door. I certainly would love to try more of their menu items.
