I’m truly beyond disappointed. I have not eaten here in a long time not working close by any more, but was super excited to grab lunch today. I got the massaman curry and chicken larb. The curry itself was sickly sweet and so thin it might as well have been broth. The larb whole ok was very underwhelming for the $15 I spent on it. All in all, I spent over $30 to be very disappointed. I called the restaurant to make sure I’d gotten the right curry or if something might be wrong and was just brushed off. As someone who absolutely loves Thai food and has had more than her share, I can honestly say this is the absolute worst and I will not be going back. Maybe they got a new owner, someone who doesn’t care about the quality of food that they serve or their customers. I understand why the restaurant was completely empty now though.
Update:
I got a response from my review asking me to contact the business privately. I can do that. But as they are the ones with my contact information, not the other way around, I’ve already made an attempt to discuss this issue directly with the restaurant and whoever answered, whether they were staff or owners, could not have cared any less. I’m curious as to why they can neither reach out to me directly or at the very BARE minimum offer a refund for the food that I had to throw away as inedible… or maybe edible if you like sucking on cinnamon sticks… while “authentic” Thai food “may” be sweeter, it should NOT taste like candy.

This restaurant has been around for a while but I have never stopped to try it. I am not a huge fan of Thai food but willing to try anything once. The staff was so friendly and atmosphere of the place was charming. The food came out quickly and was as ordered. I like a little heat so I got the medium and it was just right for me. There were many dishes to choose from and I would recommend everyone to try them out.

Authentic Thai food in the heart of Chelsea, Alabama. Some of the best food in that area and possibly the best Thai food in the greater Birmingham area. I have not had a dish here that wasn’t amazing but the soups are extraordinary. Everything is prepared fresh and the chef is extremely personable.

Never been here before until today. Apparently it’s under new ownership and this place is top 5 best Thai joints I’ve ever ate at. Wow. Couple of photos below. One is of the green curry. The hottest heat on it. Be warned it’s extremely spicy. But it’s so tasty! The other picture is a half eaten Phad Thai with beef. Food is amazing. Service is great. I will be back weekly for this gem of a hole in the wall. If you like Thai food, give this place a try! Be warned, sodas are a $1 refill charge but I wouldn’t even bat an eyelash at that over how great the food was.

I wanted to treat myself to some Thai food for lunch today and decided to check out a new spot down 280. This is about 30 minutes out for me but SO worth it! K is incredibly hard working and a kind guy to talk to. He is dedicated to provide quality food and service running the restaurant independently most of the time, as he shared with me! I had the steamed dumplings and phad prik king. I definitely will be back and recommending it to friends!

This was our first time visiting Pinto Thai. It was amazing!! We had Steamed Dumplings for appetizer with dipping sauce – excellent! I enjoyed the noodle dish called Phad See Ew with shrimp and my husband had Phad Kra Prow (a beef dish). We both enjoyed our meals!! Highly recommend this family owned and operated business!

Overall, a good, but not great, restaurant. There was nothing wrong with the food, as it tasted good, but it’s also not a place I’d necessarily be racing to go back to.

First, the food was fantastic. I think some of the best you’ll find in the area. The Pad Thai is a must. But the coconut soup Thai tea combo, WOW. Second, the service needs work. The surly youth who waited on me I’m assuming is a member of the family who owns the restaurant. But still it’s a business, I guess it’s all about your expectations. I took the stance that she’s in training and in need of some further lessons.

All of these other reviews with 4 or 5 stars.. Saying “it’s great or sooo good” …
Time to call BS!
I’ll give you an honest review. Service is terrible. Food is worse. Like, the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. I’ve been to Thailand and eaten Thai food for the past 20 years, and this is terrible. We were the only ones eating here and it still took 30 min for the food!?
Heard microwave running a few times before our orders came out. What are you microwaving? Never again.
Truly terrible.
I added a photo so you could see how much food we left on our plates because it wasn’t good. And we were starving when we came!
