We celebrated a significant birthday at the Pinion Grill at the McCormick Hotel in Scottsdale,AZ. There were 14 people attending. Four people got sick after eating. Two got sick right away, regurgitated in the restroom and left. They were sick the rest of the night and the next day only slightly better. The other two guests didn’t get sick until later in the evening, and continued into the next day.
In addition, some of the mixed drinks were not made properly.
Three guests sent their drinks back. I had a Pino Noir which was good.
The server was great!

Cocktails are garbage. Wine tasted weird, jack and coke (coke was flat). Food is terrible, nachos were questionable. Ribs were absolutely disgusting, meat had a weird flavor and texture, bbq sauce – I don’t event know how to explain how bad it was. Left feeling sick.

Our first visit and we will not be returning due to the horrible, rude service we recieved. I’m not sure if he was upset he was working labor day, but he definitely took it out on the customers. Didn’t get his name but he was an older, taller gentleman. From the very beginning he seemed to be in a mood slamming glasses down and as soon as we started talking he would walk away mid sentence. We said please and thank you thoughout and he completely ignored us. Burger came out undercooked which is no problem, but didnt even acknowledge it and just walked away annoyed with the plate. It felt like we were a major burden by being there and made us feel so unwelcome. Negative people like this will continue to drive away business.

Living in McCormick Ranch has allowed us to find some hidden treasures. The Pinion Grill in the McCormick is a nice place to enjoy some of Scottsdale scenery. The patio has done of the must beautiful vistas overlooking the lake at McCormick Golf Club. The only negative is the lack of a happy hour. Homero event manager and Antonio the bartender filled us in on the event scene at the hotel and in the neighborhood. Come at sunset.

When I booked the McCormick Scottsdale I was excited about the restaurant choices in the area. Well, I got in around lunchtime and decided to grab a quick bite here. A simple lunch on the beautifully scenic patio had me saying “Don’t sleep on Piñon Grill.” Then after an afternoon of being out and about, I decided to have dinner here. Both meals excellent, quality/flavorful food, perfectly prepared and presented. All at great prices. Those other places (all of which I have dined at) have nothing on this one. Oh and, I just had a wonderful breakfast! If I were a local, I would frequent Piñon Grill.

Patio is nice overlooking the lake. Ambiance not bad in the evening. Drinks were pricey and watered down. A Manhattan with well liquor and a White Russian were $35 total incl. tip. Tables were not bussed and the place seemed understaffed. Existing staff and servers were nice. The restaurant and hotel had a pleasant atmosphere. Would go back during daylight hours and try again. Establishment could use a refresh.

We recently dined at Pinon grill. and the waiter was extremely rude! The ambiance was great, and the food definitely great! . As always! Kudos to the cook. We go there on business. We got to the restaurant and sat overlooking the pool unfortunately I guess that’s not a good place to sit because Terry couldn’t see us. But saw us walk in. I had to ask him to wait on us when I finally got his attention he helped someone else the gentleman said they were here first and Terry said oh I will get to them after you then we waited 40 min for our food. I’m sad we will no longer eat there we eat there for convenience and the food but service was horrible!!! For the service we got totally not worth it. Ruined our night!

Lovely outdoor seating area with stunning views. We realized quickly into our visit that there was really only one server who was running around trying to take care of tables both inside and outside. She was very professional and kind and was clearly doing her best to appease everyone. We are sympathetic to staffing issues and weren’t in a rush so we didn’t say anything when it took a while to receive our food and the check. However, if you’re in a rush or have limited time, you may need to consider other options.

The menu that is listed on Google here is 100% not the menu that is at the restaurant, not a single thing on the menu that is listed here. Very basic things: fajitas (chicken was dry, not juicy) Reuben, Cesar salad, the veggie flatbread was a veggie pizza that tasted like a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell for some reason. The kids Mac n cheese was good lol. Kids grilled cheese was plain, not very cheesy but ok. Prices are also $$
