Stopped by Pink Lotus Cantonese Restaurant in Metuchen around 10 PM when not many other places were open, so the location was definitely convenient—right next to lots of shops. The space is nice with good seating and a clean, comfortable setup. Priced ok .
Tried the stir-fried chili tofu, brown rice, and noodles. The noodles were the best part—flavorful and well-cooked. Unfortunately, the tofu was quite average with not much taste, and the brown rice was a bit too dry for our liking. Parking is tough around this place .. paid parking mostly .
Overall, a decent late-night option if you’re nearby, but the flavors could use a boost.

The food is your traditional Chinese fair with simple recipes(as simple as Chinese food can get)but what makes the place standout is the friendly staff. I wanted to try a different place for Chinese food and this location came up with pretty good ratings so I took a trip in the pouring rain to place an order for pick up. Upon arrival, I notice the place was very well kept and the lady behind the desk was very welcoming. I had ordered shrimp with mixed vegetables which came with a small side of white rice. They were very accommodating upon request of two hot oil as most places seem to charge for them now, they leave their duck sauce and sour sauce packets out for grabs by the way which is cool. Upon opening my meal, I realized they use quite a bit of different added vegetables than most places like cauliflower and string beans which I didn’t mind as I like vegetables however I realized the brown sauce wasn’t as favorable as most places and the shrimp was hard to chew into, it was also pretty hard to slice into and one or two of them had a funny smell. At the price of $18.99 as they only offer one size I was expecting something much better as most places at the price point I have tried will offer more of a higher quality. I definitely was not impressed. I’m tempted to try another meal due to the great reviews but I’m not certain. I will update my review if I do give it another shot but for now I give it a 3.

Best Chinese takeout food in my experience. Everything made in-house! And that difference was noticable with the egg roll and the crab Rangoon.
I got the sesame chicken. Lots of tasty white meat and a crisp shell with good sauce.

My wife and I are up from Florida visiting Family. We love Chinese Food but after a month on the road we haven’t found a good place until TODAY. I googled best Chinese places to eat and this restaurant came up. I can tell you Google was right. The Egg Rolls were super. I had the Special House Lo Mein which was done to perfection and my wife had the Szechuan Chicken which was nice and Spicy which she loved.
If you are in the area and want authentic Chinese Food don’t hesitate come here!!

My partner and my favorite Americanized Chinese restaurant that also has amazing traditional Chinese food as well! Great vegetarian options also. They make the best tofu! And I love the vegetarian dumplings in peanut chili sauce!

In the quaint town of Metuchen, if you don’t know it’s there, you’d pass it. My wife had General T’so’s shrimp with brown rice, and my daughter had shrimp lo-mein, while I had Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. Additionally, we had some deliciously sautéed bok choy with brown rice. I believe it’s a byob, as spirits aren’t available. Light and delicious food, we’ll be coming back.
