We stopped by Pineapples for an early dinner and were seated after just a brief wait. Our meal was excellent – the fish was so fresh and cooked very well, perfectly flaky. Our shrimp was also so succulent (not to mention huge) and definitely didn’t taste frozen at all texturally. Kalua pork was also quite good and galbi wasn’t the most tender but definitely solid. Also the prices were very reasonable, which is quite hard to come by in Hawaii. Would definitely recommend the seafood items over the land stuff but everything was good.

Food 5/5 – Ordered calamari, fish & chips, and grilled fresh catch. Calamari was delicious, as the panko batter was flaky, and the calamari strips were tender without any chewiness. Fish & chips, the batter was good (not very oily) and the marlin fish was not dry. Steak fries and salad were fine. The grilled fresh catch was also good, although the slice of ahi did look a little small. Pina colada and pineapple no pow were refreshing.

Service 4/5 – Service is good, servers checked in to see how our food was, and did make a round to refill our drinks.

Ambiance 4/5 – Interior is good with a pineapple colored theme and open atmosphere.

Overall – I had a pleasant experience and will visit again.

We decided to check out this restaurant while in Hilo and it was pretty good! We went at lunchtime and did not have to wait which was nice. The menu has a lot to offer but overall the food is nothing overly special compared to other places on the island. Overall, a fine place to check out!

Definitely one of the best food I had here in Hawaii for my 2 week stay. Food was so savoury, and tasty. Calamari was one of the best I ever had, and the Hilo plate was so delicious. I dont think you will go wrong choosing that restaurant for dinner. The prices are fair for the portions.
We also had amazing service, our waitress Cass was super friendly, great sense of humour and attentive to our needs.
I 1000% recommend and would love to go back if I had more time in Hilo to try other delicacy on the menu.
Plenty of seating and free parking. Loved that they had live music for entertainment.

Stopped in for Valentine’s Day dinner. Even for a holiday, the wait was only about 15 minutes for a table. The service was impressively fast, and the food was decent. Solid open-air spot in Hilo if you want a reliable meal without a massive wait

The servers were very friendly and although there was an hour’s wait to get in to this apparently popular eatery, we were offered a seat for non-alcoholics. As we do not drink, we were seated immediately! Food is super delicious and this restaurant is therefore highly recommended! ( Be sure to order the shrimp and mango coleslaw.)

Cute little place with good food, large portions, and great drinks. My poke tower app was enough to be a full meal, and, while not the best poke ever, was good enough. The mussel dish was subtle in flavor, but delicious. Finally, the Hawaiian plate was very filling.

We also ordered a pineapple no-pow and thought it was just a fun NA-drink. Our server was great, and the ambience with the local music was a nice inclusion. The only possible drawback is that it’s streetside, and might get noisy if traffic is bad.

We had a great time here. We arrived at about 5pm or so and started with drinks, which were great. We tried the poke tower and the lava burger, both of which were delicious. As dinner was ending, live music started which was actually very nice–just two local guys enjoying some old classics.

The eating area was open to the streets, but condoned off by a railing. This was a really nice feature in my opinion, since we could enjoy the rain and additional people watching. Check it out if you’re in Hilo!

Honestly one of the best meals we had on the Big Island. The pumpkin curry was incredible, and the pineapple and coconut drinks were so good too. Definitely hit this place up if you’re in Hilo!
