I’d like to start out by saying that we visit barbecue joints everywhere in the country. From Wyoming to Vermont & Texas to Wisconsin. We also have tried to hit up everyone we find in the state of Wisconsin. Well we were passing through the area. We decided to call and make a reservation on short notice. For Friday night, the place was not busy at all. It was very easy to get in. When we arrived we realized the menu is extremely limited. The Walmart barbecue sauce on the table was my first red flag indicator. But I figured being only a couple choices they probably do them well. Not the case. Also everything item is a individual cost. There are no platters,or combos options. The atmosphere was nice. The building is old school. The service was good fairly basic nothing bad. Your typical obligatory checkups. When we ordered and the food arrived I noticed that all the meat seem to be lukewarm or almost room temperature. The cap on the brisket was very salty. The meat was ok. But overdone almost medium well. I’m not sure it was even brisket honestly. It kind of tasted like dryish overcooked pot roast. The pulled pork sandwich was lukewarm, the pork itself had very little flavor, little to no smoke flavor or bark. The smoked beef was ok, except for the big fatty chunks in. Kind of off-putting when you get a mouthful of fat. I felt like it may have been the same meat they were using for the brisket just shredded, as it also tasted like pot roast. The baby potatos were good. I liked them. The beans were good. But the truly tasted like Bush’s grilling beans just with meat & pineapple added. I guess when there really is nothing else in the area, this will do. Nothing to write home about. Would try somewhere else if giving the option again.

This is a wonderful little gem. We were seated promptly on a Friday night. The eating area was spacious and inviting. Host was very friendly and inviting. Drink selection includes wine, beer and sodas.Prices are very reasonable. BBQ sauce was delicious. I had the pulled pork meal with a fresh salad and their homemade beans. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back again. Highly recommend.

Was visiting the Driftless area for a birthday weekend getaway and visited this restaurant. Food and service was amazing! We literally ordered almost one of everything from the menu. Definitely recommend this gem of a restaurant. The owner greeted us and was very friendly. Lots of history and stories.

This is a great little place but with limited hours. I could not find a website for them but their Facebook page contains info about their operating hours. Tuesdays are takeout only with one dish offered. A couple of weeks ago it was the best chicken salad on a croissant with chips and beans. Delicious and very generous portion. They have dine-in hours Friday and Saturday and you need to make reservations. But I was told that if they have catering jobs the restaurant on those days they will not be open. I live out of town but will certainly be making a reservation to eat there if I am able to.

This is a hidden gem in Richland center. The food was out of this world. We had the ribs, baby potatoes and Pine River special beans. Quite possibly the best ribs we’ve ever had. The employees were kind and hospitable. We will be back.
