Definitely is a place to try, once you do, you’ll be back for more!!!

While Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisines seem to grab most of the Asian culinary spotlight in this country, don’t sell Thai food short. Fifty percent of all Thai restaurants outside of Thailand are in the U.S. and Canada. Thai food is a complex blend of hot, spicy, salty, sour, sweet, smoky, herbaceous, and aromatic flavors that vary throughout different regions of Thailand. Pad Thai is actually a fairly recent addition to Thai cuisine and was developed by the prime minister in the ’30s as a symbol of national identity.

Located in Emerson, I have been dining at this establishment since their next-door neighbor is a Subi dealer on Kinderkamack Road for many years. Pimaan Thai is family-owned and serves authentic cuisine inside a house where I made a reservation for a party of 5 at 630pm for Saturday night because it’s very busy and it fills up quickly.

Upon arrival, there were a few parking spots available, as this BYOB restaurant is very popular with the locals and has been voted four-time winners for Best of Bergen.

Upon entering a packed line at the host station, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff and got a table right away at the front by the window.

Their menu brings a unique blend of seasonings and quality food together with plenty of vegetarian options, and the level of spice could be accommodated to one’s taste.

As an appetizer, we decided on the Chicken Satay, Crispy Spring Roll, and Crabmeat Pancake. As a main meal, we opted for Grilled Pork, Brian Beef Steak, Beef with Ginger Sauce, Spicy Tofu, and Pad See Ew with Tofu. We even saved room for dessert and got Chocolate Soufflé with Vanilla Ice Cream and Fried Ice Cream.

All our dishes were authentic, made with fresh ingredients and amazingly tasty as compared to other Thai places in Jersey. The vibe was casual and comfortable, where the staff were hardworking and nice; our server was Nong. The price was comparable to the area.

We had a wonderful dining experience where we left our stomachs satisfied, which we can continue to recommend this place.

Located in Emerson, New Jersey, literally footsteps away from the Emerson Train Station, is a locally owned Thai restaurant.

I had the opportunity to explore a couple of the lunch specials and a dinner plate.

Drunken Noodles:
The flattened, thick noodles have a nice kick.

I selected the chicken as my protein and it came with an array of vegetables.

Sweet and Sour Sauce:
This lunch special was also came with a mixed vegetable medley and protein of your choice.

There are also a few pineapple chunks, which added that touch of sweetness.

All lunch specials include white rice and a side salad.

Pimaan Fried Rice:
Named after the restaurant, This dinner plate was served with multiple meats. Its appearance kind of reminds me of the ultimate Taiwanese version of Hoppin’ John.

Thai Iced Coffee:
To close out the meal, I explored a sweet and refreshing dessert drink. This caffeinated beverage will also give you that energy boost to get you through the rest of the day.

All in all, it was a great dining experience trying Taiwanese cuisine.

Authentic Thai restaurant. Reasonably priced for the food and service quality. Extensive menu and some items can be spiced to taste so good for a variety of palettes. Service is fast and helpful. When they say the higher spice levels are hot believe them. The pineapple fried rice were a really good balance between sweet, savory and spicy. Overall a great place to bring the family.

Contemporary ambience, Family style, Great food, Friendly staff. Plenty options for both vegetarians and others. We had the green curry with Fish and Pad Thai for lunch, with Jasmine tea and ended the lunch with sticky rice and mango, which was yummy and oh-so-delicious! Great for families, business lunches or just a date! The staff are friendly and helpful!

One of the best Thai food restaurant in the area! We have been going to this restaurant from last 15 years or more and the food always comes out fresh and delicious!
We always make reservations, because it’s very busy and it fills up quickly, it’s BYOB! The service is always good and food always comes out quickly and fresh and delicious!
Plenty of parking in the back of the building and entrance is from the front now! I highly recommend this place!

Pimaan is one of (if not THE) best Thai places in the area. And by “area”, I mean northeast NJ. If you are able to actually go and sit in there for your meals, it’d be ideal, but the take-out is also fantastic. Some places’ take-out can be soggy and almost “ruined” from the condensation in the container… I’ve never had this happen from Pimaan. Always delicious and fresh.

This was almost a 4-Star review but Pimaan Thai Restaurant in Emerson came through. We showed up with no reservation as this was a last minute decision (1st time there too) and although they were fully packed, they accommodated us. We started with the fried calamari which was delicious! Crispy, fresh, tasty! Then, we ordered the sea food soup, this was a no go for us. It was like tangy water with tomato, a few mushrooms, two shrimps-not what I consider a sea food soup (Tom Yum PO-TAK) at all. The portions are small, so be cautioned! We decided to get a side of glass noodles to add to our soups, that was okay. We were still hungry so we overheard someone mention a crab fried rice. What! It didn’t disappoint, it was heaven! This fried rice was tasty, wonderful texture, and made with brown rice. The staff was attentive and friendly. I noticed a lot of people brought their wines. The crowd was upscale. This is a fine restaurant and we plan to return.

A nice Thai restaurant. A large variety of traditional Thai dishes.

The papaya salad was very good, but too sweet and not spicy. As a general rule, the food was tasty but a bit too sweet.

Overall a good option if you are in the area.
