We had an amazing experience here! Highly recommend! We were a party of 6 and had plenty of seating. It was a great experience overall. The owner that helped us was great and even allowed us to get a sample before ordering. He explained everything and the sauces. The Cock sauce is the best and I’ll leave that experience for you to find out. Awesome little place!

This restaurant is a staple on our outer banks vacation itinerary! The food here is absolutely incredible, and the service follows suit! The workers are very personable, and the restaurant is kept super clean. We’ve never missed our stop by pigmans when we visit the obx every year, and often swing by more than once! If you are visiting the area, or a local looking for some delicious southern bbq, pigmans is definitely worth checking out! 🙂

Really mixed on this one. Good pork, really good fried shrimp, good fries, okay slaw, didn’t care for the baked beans, okay hush puppies, did not care for the BBQ sauces. Nothing particularly bad on the service, but not up to OBX standards. The food was cooked well, okay prices, my tastes are just not down this alley. Won’t highly recommend, but I won’t say don’t go. For me, been there done that, but if I wanted fried shrimp, I’d stop for a shrimp and fries.

Stopped here for lunch and it was amazing! All of the meat was super juicy and delicious. The pork sandwich was a favorite of ours. Lots of fun bbq sauce options as well. Everything was affordable and service was very fast!

Food was okay. Prices were a competitive to similar places in the area. Portions were good. The sauce pig was fun and kind of a draw to the restaurant. Sauces were tasty.
Atmosphere was loud because it was one, large open room. Servers were friendly but one was so loud. She wasn’t talking she was almost screaming to guys in the kitchen and to other workers. Just super loud and off-putting.

Delicious pulled pork with carolina style BBQ sauce. The hush puppies it comes with were also very tasty. I didn’t care too much for the beans (needed more flavor) or the slaw (little on the sweet side). The mac and cheese was so good and worth the extra $. I didn’t understand why a bottle of water is the same price as a soda, but overall the prices are decent.
Easy to order at the counter, than they call your number and bring the food to the table you picked. Plenty of parking. Plenty of extra condiments and sauces you can grab on the side. Food came out fasst. Good spot if you’re in the mood for BBQ.

Atmosphere was inviting Customer service was excellent I loved the Sauce bar very good idea. BBQ sauce was definitely good. We ordered the 2 meat plate with a side of pulled beef and burnswick stew. The beef and burnswick stew was amazing, The pulled pork was good had a nice flavor I liked the vinegar base on it, the baked beans nothing to brag about seemed to me straight out the can with some BBq sauce added the coleslaw was decent. The hush puppies was cold and stuck together. The ribs……. My 1/2 slab was good the flavor was good they were nice and tender, my husband 1/2 slab was mostly fat they did give him another 1/2 which was way better. Coming from my husband who owns a BBQ restaurant we take the fat cap off to keep from having that issue but other then that the food was really good.

I’ll try to start with some positives. The signage is cute. The menu is straight to the point. The food came out extremely quickly (maybe a little too quickly). It’s a relaxed, self-serve vibe. There’s a unique “udder” self-serve dispenser for their range of barbecue sauces.
My family and I were looking to switch things up from the seafood we’ve been having this week. I have been on a barbecue kick lately and was extremely excited to try what I thought would be an incredible, authentic, barbecue spot. After eating here, I have NO CLUE how this place has lasted 40 years on the OBX. It may have ruined barbecue food for me.
I ordered a half rack of ribs, a side of mac and cheese, and a side of coleslaw. The girl at the counter put my order into the system incorrectly, charging me for an entire half rack of ribs “plate” which comes with beans (that I didn’t want), hush puppies (that I didn’t want), and coleslaw (that I had already ordered as a side). Not sure why there were no clarifying questions. The girl seemed to struggle to understand our orders.
There is a “boat” section on the menu, described as sandwiches. The three people I was with each ordered one, expecting sandwiches. The chicken tender boat is not a sandwich. It’s just tenders. The fried shrimp boat is also not a sandwich. It’s just fried shrimp. The girl at the counter input the fried shrimp boat incorrectly (which should come with fries and hush puppies), only putting in fried shrimp à la carte. Not a huge deal, they brought out the sides after we said something.
The ribs were bad. The color of the meat was off putting. You could see a yellow sheen on the surface and the inside was grey. The texture of the meat was gelatinous and bouncy. There was an overwhelming amount of fat. I took two bites before giving up and making everyone in my party try it. It was a negative experience for everyone. We threw what is pictured away.
The barbecue sauce was terrible. Not sure how you can mess that up as a barbecue restaurant, but of the six offered sauces, only one was remotely close to a classic barbecue flavor (but was too sweet). All the other sauces tasted like straight vinegar- extremely sour.
The pork barbecue boat (which actually does come as the advertised sandwich) was so sour due to the vinegar-based barbecue sauce. I couldn’t tolerate it, but luckily the person who ordered it was able to get through it by adding copious amounts of the sweet barbecue sauce (which I believe Pigman’s call their “Cock” sauce for whatever reason).
I got Starry as my drink from the self-serve soda machine. It tasted like dirty cafeteria soda, as if the machine needed a cleaning or the Starry had somehow gone bad.
The experience spiraled so badly that we ended up hysterically laughing at the cards we were dealt.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone in any scenario. Get some ribs from Food Lion or something if you want barbecue food. At least the workers were nice!

Great bbq. Loved the variety of sauces. Very friendly service and food came out quickly. Only one complaint, didn’t love the coleslaw. Everything else was great. We devoured everything we got.

Took a family trip to Kitty Hawk this Memorial Day weekend. We did a lot of walking, so around dinner time we got pretty hungry. My son Googled what North Carolinaers eat, and BBQ was the top response based on his search. Then we googled, which was the best BBQ place in the Outer Banks, and Pigman’s got the most stars. I am a big guy on polite, and the folks here were quite hospitable to us hungry New Yorkers. We felt welcome both as we entered and as we departed. The food was delicious . I loved their sauce station.
