To be honest, we expected to come to a nice warm environment full of great smells with empty stomachs. We entered the establishment being told it was a little chilly, no sweat that’s fine. The food smelled good in the air, we were excited and expecting a good meal, however we were let down by cold meat and what we thought would have been fresh. To our surprise the ribs I was served were cold, the Mac and cheese that was a smoked Mac and cheese was incredibly flavorful and tasty, the corn bread tasted fresh out of a package unfortunately, not too sure if it was fresh made. The meal was pricey overall not a surprise because most BBQ is in the same price range. $50 for 2 people plus a counter iPad tip. Overall not the best BBQ place, there is 100% better. This is a quick stop bite to eat. Honestly a 2.5 out of 5 stars. I’m sure they have a perfect hour to go where the food is Hot and fall apart goodness, however when my wife and I went it was not that hour. Suggest going to a different location if you want the true flavor and experience of FRESH BBQ. Sorry Pig Rig, it’s a no from me dog. ‍♂️

This location had a great vibe, there was a lot of classic rock memorabilia around the dining room. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was clean.
We tried three dishes, the burnt ends with diesel beans, the pulled pork sandwich with cowboy beans, the big bird with a side of potato salad. I also got an order of the pulled pork by itself.
Well, none of it was bad, I will say the pulled pork and the burnt ends were a bit dry on their own. Understand, I am being picky about these meats. I think burnt ends are incredibly hard to pull off; many places leave them fatty, thankfully they do not do that here. I also understand most people will add in a lot of sauce (the original house is a solid barbecue sauce) to these meats. I like them to stand on their own, on the merrily of the smoke and the rub, or the sauce that they were basted in. All three cornbreads that of came with our meal were a miss, dried and hard. I didn’t mind, because I was here for the meats.
The sides were delicious, both style beans were well seasoned, thick, and exactly what you would expect to accompany smoked meat meats.
I would try it again but if I’m being honest, there are other barbecue spots in Connecticut that hit closer to my preferred barbecue. Definitely try them out, I think some of these dishes may work better as a bowl than a sandwich.

My husband and I stopped here based on the great reviews. The pictures are accurate—the food is delicious!

We shared a full rack of ribs with mac and cheese and beans. There was plenty of food for two. The ribs were great, but the cowboy beans are PHENOMENAL. So flavorful! The coleslaw was also a good, fresh side.

Fair warning: the cornbread wasn’t good, just as other reviews said. But everything else was so tasty we didn’t care. Highly recommend!

Be warned they do not sell alcohol at this restaurant but they allow you to BYOB.

Burnt ends and ribs were tender and tasted good with slight smokey flavor, but it was way too sweet. Same for the beans. (I have a sweet tooth and too sweet even for me). Corn bread was a bit dry. It wasn’t bad but we couldn’t finish because overall it was too sweet. Soda fountain is out of order. Quiet and clean, retro vibe

Was kind of disappointed in the food. Ordered brisket and was surprised it came out pulled in a watery/oily container. Tells me it sits in a hot holding container. Flavor was just ok. The beans were good and unfortunately they dont make their own cornbread. The dining room is very cool with rock and roll nostalgia. Overall its just ok.

Unforgettable BBQ Experience Thanks to Pig Rig!
We had Pig Rig cater our daughter’s rehearsal dinner, and the experience was incredible! From the moment Dan arrived, everything was handled with professionalism, warmth, and precision. He set everything up beautifully, making sure the presentation matched the celebratory vibe of the evening.
And the food—wow! The BBQ was out of this world. Tender brisket, juicy pulled pork, flavor packed kielbasa, delicious pulled chicken, and sides that had everyone going back for seconds (and thirds!). The guests were raving about the mac and cheese, cowboy beans, potato salad and cornbread. It was the perfect blend of comfort and flavor, and it made the night feel extra special.
Dan didn’t just serve food—he helped create memories. If you’re looking for top-notch BBQ and service that goes above and beyond, look no further. Pig Rig is the perfect choice!

I recently tried Pig Rig BBQ for the first time and overall, it was a fantastic experience—definitely earning a 4/5 rating!
The Ribs were the highlight of the meal and absolutely perfect (5/5). They were cooked flawlessly, falling off the bone, and delivering on flavor.
The Beef Brisket was solid (4/5). The flavor profile was definitely there, which I appreciated, though it was slightly on the dry side.
The Cornbread was delicious and another perfect element of the plate (5/5)—I absolutely loved it.
The only real misstep was the Collard Greens (2/5). They were unfortunately too salty and needed to be cooked down a little more to achieve that classic texture. However, the richness of the beef brisket actually saved the day, as it helped balance out the saltiness.
Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit and look forward to trying this place again!
Not done with my plate as yet ‍

Stopped there today on way back home to NY. This very sweet lady (owners wife) served us and we discussed varied topics; very bright. Unfortunately the ribs didn’t measure up; firstly they were individually cut, on the dry side and the consistency struck me as par-boiled. But the beans were amazing.

Great little BBQ restaurant. Found this place looking for dinner on a recent business trip. The brisket was good and the purple coleslaw was good and different at the same time.

The best BBQ in the area. Excellent pulled pork, ribs, burnt ends, brisket and even smoked turkey. Their Cowboy Beans, intensely rich and smoky, are addictive. The folks there are nice too. Eat in or take out. You will be very happy.
