The vegetarian tamales is beyond words!!! The staff is extremely kind and generous. If you can open a shop in France it will be a blessing. If not please send me the recipe xx

I had the esquites (Mexican corn in a cup), it’s literally the most simple thing but I absolutely love it if it’s done right. They did it right here, large enough cups to mix everything together, just the right amount of each topping, didn’t go crazy with the mayo, but was generous with it.

Would highly recommend their corn in a cup with Cheetos on top. Delicious. Great atmosphere with them being located on Santa Monica Pier. Should’ve got more but there’s always next time!

I agree with a fellow reviewer mentioning that the tamales were good, but service not so much. We were overcharged and this place doesn’t have consistent prices for their items. I will not be returning and do not recommend. You’re better off getting tamales in town than going here for overpriced tamales.

We visited on the last day of our California trip and bought two tamales. They offered card payment. The payment kept failing. They claimed it was due to “being near the ocean”. We asked if they had another card machine. They did. We used that one and the payment went through. Upon returning home we found they had charged us twice. Dusputed the charge with our credit card company and they contacted the vendor who produced two receipts for two purchases. This is criminal behaviour and we caution EVERYONE who visited the pier to STAY AWAY from this vendor!!
UPDATE: (reply to vendor’s response) Please provide an email address and we will send photos of the receipt from our purchase as well as the second receipt timestamped after we had left Santa Monica as well as GPS-stamped photos showing we were nowhere near you when the second charge went through.

I visited the Santa Monica Pier on vacation during memorial day weekend and bought three tamales from this cart. The food was delicious, however, the service was awful. I didn’t have enough cash to pay for my food so I gave the man my card and he charged me an extra $60!!! I found this out later when I went back to my hotel and saw an email with a transaction alert. I believe the employee must’ve combined my order with the person ahead of me, did not offer me a receipt, and failed to mention I spent $75 on three tamales. I have tried contacting the vendor multiple times to fix this issue since my credit card company’s investigation sent me a receipt with 10 extra items I did not order. If you ever visit this food cart, BRING CASH or ask for a receipt!!
