If you’re in Orange Beach and looking for a fantastic dining experience, I can’t recommend The Pier House enough. As someone with a gluten intolerance, I’m always on the lookout for places that offer quality gluten-free options, and I was beyond thrilled to find this gem. Not only did they have gluten-free fried fish (which is hard to find), but almost the entire menu was gluten-free, including fried shrimp, and amazing wedge-cut fries.
If you’re dining with someone who has Celiac disease or needs to eat gluten-free, you won’t be disappointed here. And what’s even better? The rest of our group, who are not gluten-free, absolutely loved the food too. It’s rare to find a place that satisfies both dietary needs and taste buds across the board.
The stuffed mushrooms on the appetizer menu were a highlight, and they even offered gluten-free bread upon request. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the owners took the time to chat with us about the food, which added such a personal touch. Plus, everything on the menu is clearly marked for gluten-free and other allergens like dairy-free, which made it so much easier to navigate the choices.
Whether you’re visiting Orange Beach for the first time or you’re a regular, The Pier House is definitely a place you should try. You might just find yourself coming back more than once during your trip.

This is a great place to sit down and have a really nice seafood meal. (There are other non-seafood options like filet.) The royal reds were cooked to perfection. The sauce on the cold crab claw appetizer was delicious. The bisque was as well. The taste of the fried seafood platter was amazing, and nothing beats how tasty Gulf shrimp are. The presentation of the dessert and everything else for that matter was beautiful. We loved our waitress, Melissa who was very professional and personable. Definitely a recommended restaurant visit!

Lovely restaurant with delicious menu options. We had a party of 8 and everyone had delightfully tasteful entrees. The food was amazing! However, the problem was the service. We experienced the worst service we’ve had in years. I rarely leave a negative review, because most places are doing the best they can with limited staff, and that is understandable. This experience, though, warrants some attention. We had a reservation and had to wait almost 15 minutes for a table, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. From the moment we sat down, the waitress acted like she would rather do anything other than wait on us. It took a very long time to get drinks and place our order. Our salads came out with the entrees and we didn’t get them until over an hour after we arrived. There were several mistakes, which were corrected. The gentleman who brought our food out was very kind and apologetic about the mistakes. The waitress was not so helpful and seemed irritated that she had to go back and forth to get the correct items, some of which had to be asked for repeatedly. Our drinks were not refilled the entire 2 hours we were there. We had planned to order dessert, but opted not to due to the poor service and length of time we had already been at the restaurant. When our checks came there was a mistake, and it took several minutes for it to be corrected. When we received the corrected check the 20% mandatory gratuity had been removed. There was another error that had to be corrected, and our checks came back with the mandatory 20% gratuity added back on. We always tip and do not mind that gratuity is automatically added at some establishments. In this case however, that amount was not deserved. The waitress profited nearly $100 for our party and did not perform efficiently or cordially. Her attitude made everyone in our party uncomfortable, and we are a pretty easy-going group. Hopefully, management will correct this issue for future patrons. The food was amazing, but I’m not sure we’ll be back.

First time to visit the Pier House but it won’t be the last. The atmosphere is very inviting as are the hostess and waitresses. Very attentive to our table as well as knowledgeable on the menu items. We enjoyed the mushrooms as an appetizer and the sauce …..well let’s just say I could drink it out of the bowl if it had not been for onlookers . I was debating between the seafood pasta and the pier house platter. I went with the platter. It was an abundant plate of food to say the least. Large pieces of shrimp, oysters and calamari (to which I now know I am not a fan of ) and a very nice size portion of fish with ribbon fries. If you leave hungry it’s your own fault. The plate came with one side of tartar and one side of cocktail. Both were delicious. My husband had the special which was blackened redfish with a lemon caper sauce, mashed potatoes and sautéed zucchini. He was amazed even though he didn’t know what a caper was. All in all our dinner was excellent and as I said we will be back again.

Triggerfish! Finally found a place that served it. Delicious! We also had sautéed crab claws. Yum-O! And the BEST shrimp and grits my husband has ever had and he has tried a bunch! Bella was an excellent server! Give this place a try because it is now on our FAVORITES list.

I had the grilled red fish, and let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing. I felt the presentation was spectacular, everything on the plate needed to be exactly where it was for a wonderful dining experience. For dessert, I had the fantastic display called bread pudding. It was visually stunning and absolutely delicious. This place knows what looks and tastes good.

This place is a hidden gem on the state park side of Orange Beach! The entire place looks like new construction but our waitress told us they had been open for three years. The pride they take in keeping their space clean, fresh, and inviting really really shows and makes a difference!
The food quality is absolutely incredible and something you’d find straight out of a Gordon Ramsay kitchen. The presentation was 5 stars and the taste was even better! My wife ordered the shrimp and grits and I ordered the Pier House burger and it was delicious and tastes so fresh!
To tie it all together the service was fantastic! The staff seemed to really care about making sure you had a great experience. She made recommendations on specials for the night and everything that came out looked amazing!
DON’T MISS THIS PLACE! Maybe make them the last meal of your trip — they’ll set the bar so high no other restaurant on the beach can compete!

I actually stopped by to experience your restaurant about a little over a week ago, but I saw that I had accidentally given y’all two stars and meant to give you three , so I went back in and edited it and that’s what you are looking at thinking that’s when I had came in your restaurant, but that’s not when I came in your restaurant.
I did not give you a bad review. I was just giving you a review of what y’all presented to me as a customer for the first time ever stopping in your restaurant to buy a fairly expensive bowl of gumbo. I had expected a little more seafood in it and tried to give you a justified review of what several different people thought of your gumbo and as you know, a gumbo can be like belly buttons everyone has one and they’re all different so that was not a bad review and trying to destroy your restaurant but your reaction to my comments kind of blows me away. I did take those pictures and videos as I walked in the door while your Staff at the hostess stand, went to go place my order so those menus were at your hostess stand. When I placed my order. Also, I did not try to hide or park away from the building. I took the first available parking space closest to the door, I do hope that y’all do well and I would have possibly given you a second chance, but I’m not real sure with your attitude Instead of being concerned about why my food wasn’t wonderful !!
Upon entering 5:00pm the restaurant, it seems unfinished. There’s a gift shop area that looks like it’s in the process of being finished with you, know that could happen sometime soon. The restaurant seemed very empty. The staff was unsure of the menu items and how they were prepared and what was included with them, ordered a bowl of gumbo to go. After we got back and reviewed the seafood gumbo we have several different views of the flavor taste and contents of the gumbo that will be in our videos. We will add to as the other people who have tried the gumbo in post how they enjoyed or liked or what their thoughts were of this bowl

We went with a group to the Pier House because we had learned that they have very healthy ingredients and a great atmosphere right across from the Gulf.
First of all, the dining room is very welcoming with original art and nicely done decor –not too much and definitely not a dive.
I started with a Watermelon Rita which, honestly was the best margarita I’ve ever had. We ordered Crab Claws and Oysters Rockefeller for the table which were absolutely delicious!
I got the Pier House Platter for my husband and I which included beautifully battered and perfectly fried trout, shrimp, oysters and hushpuppies. Again, it was all so delicious and the hushpuppies were TO DIE FOR! I tasted my friend’s Stuffed Mushrooms and I could have drank the sauce. All the sauces are homemade. I love that you can eat all this and not feel bloated and awful because it’s made with only the healthiest of ingredients.
Couldn’t leave without trying the cheesecake which was not only thick and creamy but beautifully presented. Oh! and the service was impeccable. We’ll be taking our friends and family back again and again.
