First timers, had a good dining experience. Raw oysters were good size and delicious. Snapper bites were good, liked the remoulade with rice below it. Shrimp tacos were really good and so was the grilled chicken caesar salad. Capt and ginger ale ($10) and Titos and club soda ($9) were good but a little more than I have seen at other restaurants for the size. Overall we will go back.

So I’ll start off by commenting on the half empty restaurant where you have people waiting 20 minutes while they stare at empty tables. That was the first flag…. Then we finally do get to sit down and they would not allow us to sit at the empty tables that faced the water… We had to sit in the middle of the restaurant and look at the walls. Now I’m paying attention to everything! I really wanted some shrimp and oysters which they did have a shrimp and an oyster baskets . I asked them if I could mix them…. (Everyone else does this all the time.) I was told they could not do it beacuse they were made at different stations or some strange excuse. Then I seen the 34$ super platter and you could get shrimp and oysters if you ordered that. I told them I noticed they had no problem mixing the shrimp and oysters for the $34 platter….. They had no explanation for that. I ordered the platter anyway the fried oysters were actually very good. The best thing one the plate if you ask me. The shrimp were lacking…. I almost wondered if they were gulf shrimp since they never said the were on the menu. I also orded the chargrilled oysters, the actual size and freshness of the oysters were AWESOME! My issue was the way they were cooked. They didn’t have the chargrilled crust on top of the parm and butter topping. The were just soggy. Still had flavor but the texture was all wrong. One last thing I would like to give them kudos for is thier choice of local craft beers. That fremason ale they have on tap is delicious! Awesome sprig or summer beer! Over all it was a nice place and the workers are as friendly as they come. I give the wait staff 5 out of 5. I would return but would order something else with my craft beer. Overall / one appetizer one seafood platter / one beer and a kids cheeseburger was right at 100$ for lunchtime…. You be the judge of that.

UPDATE AND RESPONSE.

No, it was not a reservation thing. They told us they didn’t have enough people in the kitchen. I tried to explain that was understandable but could we sit down and have something to drink?

They would not allow us.

Crab claws were really good grilled, and the martinis were amazing. This was my first time having grilled oysters that tasted fishy, and the cheese on top didn’t melt appropriately like it usually does with grilled oysters. I usually love them, but I didn’t even finish the plate. The fish tacos were just okay. I ordered two, but one had most of the fish while the other barely had any. The atmosphere was nice, but overall the food didn’t reflect the price.

Gluten free fried seafood options!!!! They use corn flour. Crab claws, fried grouper and fries, and crab bisque were all amazing! We ordered extra bisque for home. The servers were polite and understanding of my allergies. This is a gem for celiac and wheat allergy individuals who are missing delicious seafood options!

We went to Pier House off the Causeway for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It had a nice atmosphere, and our server was very attentive and kind. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and fried green tomatoes. Both were delicious, and we enjoyed them very much. I ordered the Pier Platter, and hubby ordered the Grouper Basket. I knew I would be asking for a take-away box which I usually do and have it for lunch for the next day! The food was delicious, and everything was very well cooked. We will be back. I highly recommend it.

A hidden gem on the bay with heart, flavor, and unforgettable views!

The Pierhouse in Spanish Fort has completely won me over—especially under the care of the incredible new owners. Carrie is an absolute sweetheart and a true gem of a host. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for every guest make this place feel like home with a five-star twist.

The food? Phenomenal. Every dish I’ve tried has been a knockout, and I’m already planning to work my way through the menu at least three times. Don’t leave without asking for Carrie’s homemade bread pudding or bananas foster—both are swoon-worthy and made with love.

I love being able to catch the game while soaking in the stunning bay views—it’s the perfect blend of cozy and coastal. And don’t forget to say hi to their adopted alligator (yes, really!).

Tell them Claire sent you—you’ll be glad you stopped by.

Excellent place to dine, especially on a Friday night! Crab dip is amazing, and so is the shrimp alfredo! Donerson music was there, phenomenal entertainment. (I hear he’s there most Friday nights) Emily was our waitress. She was very attentive. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal, environment, or view. Will definitely be back in the future.

I am floored, in the best way possible. It’s incredibly rare to find a local restaurant that not only acknowledges food allergies but truly caters to them with such care and intentionality. As someone who is allergic to gluten, shellfish, and nuts, eating out is usually more stressful than enjoyable. But Pier House changed that for me.

First, let’s talk about how allergy-friendly they are. Nearly everything on the menu is gluten-free, with the exception of the hushpuppies, tacos, and pasta, and they’re very clear about that up front. I ordered fish and was reassured that it’s not fried with shellfish, making it totally safe for me. That alone brought me so much peace.

The staff is incredibly well-informed and took my allergies seriously. For once, I didn’t have to explain or repeat myself nervously — they got it. One of the owners came by twice to personally check on us, and I learned her husband — also the co-owner — has food allergies too. It shows. You can tell they built this restaurant from a place of real understanding and compassion.

Now let’s get to the food. BABYYY! Whoever is in that kitchen is not playing around. The food was top tier —seasoned, flavorful, and cooked with love. You can tell the chef cares. This isn’t just allergy-friendly food, it’s delicious food, period.

As an added bonus, I learned that the owner is a veteran and also a follower of Jesus Christ. While being Christian isn’t a requirement for a great restaurant, I love meeting fellow believers, and I could feel the presence of God in the way they run their business. The excellence, the hospitality, the care, it was all there. It’s clear this is a place built on strong values, and it shows.

We will absolutely be back. If you have food allergies, or even if you don’t, run, don’t walk to Pier House.

10/10. Highly recommend.

Beautiful atmosphere, amazing live music, great food and drinks! We visit OB location often but wanted to check out the new waterfront Spanish Fort location. Did NOT disappoint! I ordered the gluten free fried shrimp platter and happy to report that it was amazing! We will be back! They also have a ramp that goes all the way to the top floor for access.
