Since it was my birthday the staff came and sang happy birthday with a piece of cheesecake, that had a sparkling sparkler on it, a huge neon sign, a crown, and a cute little blinking bear gift. This really made my birthday special and I can’t thank them enough for the amazing experience mixed with the incredibly deliscious food!!! I can’t wait to come back again for another boil cause man that was incredible!!!
We also tried the clams, shrimp, and crabs, all of which were absolutely delicious.
Beyond the food, the staff is wonderful. They are so friendly and welcoming, and if you’re unsure what to order, they give fantastic recommendations.
I can’t wait to go back again!”
We ordered fried oysters, pier 9 seafood pasta, and harbor lover seafood boil. Service was okay, we were seated in the bar area so our server was also a bartender. However, I think she could have done a bit better in being more efficient. Overall, this is a 4 out of 5.
-fried oysters 5 – I really enjoyed these. The price was not bad. The quality was good. Oysters were juicy when you bite into them.
-pier 9 seafood pasta 2 – this is a pretty low rating. A lot can be fixed here. For $27, they could have added a bigger piece of lobster, 2-3 more pieces of shrimp (there were only 4), and more scallops (only 2). For a seafood place, they were kind of skimpy on this dish. The noodles were fine but the sauce lacked any flavor at all. I get more flavor going in the pasta aisle at any grocery store. Skip this dish unless they improve on it.
-harbor lover 5 – it came with a big piece of lobster tail, 3 snow crab leg clusters, 1 lb of shrimp (head-off), 3-4 corn. It was supposed to come with 6 potatoes but they gave us extra corn and a snow crab leg cluster. We chose mild Cajun seasoning. That sauce was really good, it would go well on rice or noodles.
The service was the first hurdle. Our waitress was clearly overwhelmed; she was very inattentive, likely because the restaurant had overbooked for the opening night. We spent a lot of time waiting just to get the basics.
As for the food, it was mediocre at best and poorly executed at worst:
* The Boil: The seasoning was incredibly salty—to the point where it masked the actual flavor of the seafood.
* Mussels: Several of the mussels in the bag were completely uncooked/closed.
* Lobster Tail: For the price of a boil, I expected more, but the lobster tail was tiny—hardly bigger than a standard tiger shrimp.
* The Sides: The potatoes were the biggest disappointment; they were barely cooked through and still hard.
I’m usually willing to give a new spot a second chance to work out the “grand opening” kinks, but this experience was rough enough that my wife has already sworn it off. It’s a shame because the area needs a great seafood joint, but they have a lot of consistency issues to fix.
We waited 50 minutes on a Saturday to be seated for a party of 7 with no reservation so be smarter than us and call ahead! lol.
The meal/lunch was PERFECT.
Would be more than glad to come here again. Keep up the great work!
