Their beer list is quite good with a good variety on tap. Wine list is small but good as well. We got the arancini that comes in marinara sauce. The simple salad was fresh. The pizza dough is quite good as well. Didn’t enjoy the veggie pizza as much – it had too much spinach in my opinion that smothered the pesto and goat cheese flavors. Margarita pizza was very good.
Pie Tap’s Park + Preston location delivers what might be the best low-carb dining experience in Plano, though the service needs a kick. Despite sluggish staff, the food quality makes this spot worth your time.
The Standout Dishes
The rotisserie farm bird is the star, perfectly executed chicken served with well-seasoned vegetables and creamy cauliflower mash that’s utterly silky. This half-bird presentation demonstrates Chef Giovanni Mauro’s commitment to premium technique and quality ingredients. The Crazy Alfredo pizza (featuring rotisserie chicken, house-made fennel sausage, bacon, sundried tomato, mushrooms, red bell peppers, jalapeños, and parmesan in white wine alfredo sauce) offers bold, layered flavors that satisfy without the carb overload when you skip the crust.
Service Challenges
The lethargic service stands in stark contrast to other reviewer experiences praising attentive bartenders and knowledgeable servers. This inconsistency suggests staffing variability, particularly during slower shifts. The restaurant’s packed atmosphere during peak times typically brings better energy.
Low-Carb Winner
For health-conscious diners seeking flavor without compromise, the rotisserie farm bird combo is unbeatable—tender protein, nutrient-rich vegetables, and that cauliflower mash substitute that doesn’t taste like a compromise. Available during Wednesday’s Bird Night special for $15, this represents exceptional value.
Here is what we liked most, great food, cloth napkins, big and plenty ice cubes, nice glassware, cracked pepper, good service and engaged management.
Pie Tap has been in Plano for quite a while, but we had never stopped in. Ends up it was us who were missing out.
We ordered a Cesar salad that was very fresh and flavorful, with a healthy serving if homemade dressing and large shaved slices of parm cheese. We also ordered a Mediterranean salad which is sliced heirloom, tomatoes, green and black olives, cucumbers, and onions. It’s also served with a delicious sourdough pita and a nice serving of hummus. But the best of our orders was the Crazy Linguini, which was crazy good. This is highly recommended! Then finally, we all shared a pepperoni pizza which was made with their famous sourdough bread rolled thin. It came out warm and crispy. And we all grabbed for a fresh hot piece.
This is exactly why you want to try new restaurants. Now we have another favorite place we can count of for a great meal and relaxed environment.
Try It, you’ll love it!
Our server took the time to walk us through the history of the place and offered helpful recommendations from the menu.
We started with drinks — the house-made rosemary lemonade and an Old Fashioned. My husband especially loved the Old Fashioned; the bartender did a fantastic job with the smoky presentation and balanced flavors.
For appetizers, we ordered the garlic puffs — bite-sized baked sourdough balls paired perfectly with creamy ricotta. They were packed with flavor and a great start to the meal.
The highlight for me was the hot truffle chicken sandwich. It deserves its own moment of appreciation. The chicken was freshly breaded and perfectly cooked, and the pepper jam added an amazing depth of flavor. It was easily one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had.
We didn’t get to try a lot this time, but I truly enjoyed the experience. I’m already looking forward to coming back with a larger group so we can explore more of the menu!
Update Alert:
We came back the very next day to try brunch like John suggested and I am so glad we did; our new server Ariana was amazing and recommended the smash burger, the Froze, and the cinnamon rolls
OMG everything was incredible; the Froze was fresh and delicious; the cinnamon rolls were gigantic, moist, and perfectly sweet.
But the standing ovation and round of applause goes to that hangover burger; I can honestly say it was the best smash burger I have ever had in my life and I would not have tried it if it was not for Ariana.
Shout out to the chefs who never disappoint two days in a row; to John for bringing us back from lunch to brunch; to Trey for being the best manager; and to the one and only Ariana for being the show stopper of the day.
If you are looking for the best brunch, lunch, smash burgers, pizza, pasta, great drinks, sourdough heaven, and amazing desserts this is your spot; I promise you will be back!
