Love this place! They have great sandwiches, soups and salads. My favorite sandwiches are the orchard and the backyard. All of the soups are fantastic, but my favorite is the chicken tortilla. I also love their Vermont salad. The cookies and brownies are also good. My favorite cookies are the cowboy and double chocolate with sea salt. The patio is nice when the weather is good. I have been eating here since before the original owner had this location and it is nice to see the quality has been maintained over the years and with the transition to the new owner. Thanks for a lovely lunch!

The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is friendly.

I tried The Orchard, and it was absolutely delicious. The smoked turkey with bacon and creamy brie was perfectly balanced by the crisp apples and fresh field greens. The Vermont dressing added just the right touch of sweetness and tang, all served on a soft roll that held everything together beautifully.

And don’t skip their homemade potato chips! They’re crispy, perfectly salted, and the ideal side to round out the meal. You can definitely tell they’re made in-house.

Picnikins is a solid lunch spot. I’ll definitely be back!

First time coming here and wasn’t too sure what to expect. I hadn’t heard of this place until my husband decided to bring me because he knows I love me a good sandwich! Bread was soft and food was tasty. The place is pretty small and it can get kind of cramped but there’s plenty of seating outside as well. I did feel kind of rushed to order by the gentleman that helped take our order. Will probably come back!

I first had a taste of this place from an event that was catered and was impressed; I happened to be in the area and remembered how delicious it was but today was no ordinary lunch.

I stopped in, not remembering what I had tasted before and everything looked tasty. I ended up ordering The Ultimate, which was good, but not as good as the new sandwich of the month, which they would start serving the next month.

As I waited for my order by the exit, 2 of their staff walked out past me carrying a bowl and a plate of Tomato Basil soup & their new February special, Grown-Up Grilled Cheese. They were snapping pictures outside and I couldn’t resist to inquire.

Upon asking, they informed me it was loaded with Turkey, Bacon, Provolone and ‘Merican! Aaron & Dallas generously offered and I replied, “You don’t have to ask me twice!” They let me dip in the soup and immediately …it barely lasted long enough to snap a picture

Needless to say, I will be returning, hopefully on more than one occasion. The sandwich is hefty and the soup is the perfect amount if sopping is your thing!

We called in a to-go order for four people. When we got there we had to wait another 15 minutes more than allotted time before our to go order was ready. The food; chicken salad sandwiches and hamburger we’re very good. But, the poblano soup was absolutely wonderful. That made the wait almost worthwhile. The atmosphere was too loud, place too busy, and prices above average. Would I return? Probably not.. oh I take that back, for the soup I would wait. Would I recommend, not really.

Absolutely disgusting. Burger would have been good except the patty was like cardboard, grossly overcooked. The sweet potato fries were inedible.

Picnikins is one of my favorite restaurants! I get the 1/2 Vermont salad and cup of poblano soup and it never disappoints…even 10 years later. The poblano soup is the best I’ve ever had. You have to try it!

Consistently fresh and delicious! Staff is really kind and keep the restaurant clean and very well run. We especially love the poblano soup, the orchard sandwich, Asian salad, and sweet potato fries. A San Antonio staple!

When I returned to San Antonio for a quick visit, the first restaurant I wanted to go to was Picknikins. This place is amazing. The staff is always courteous, friendly and prompt. The food is ridiculous. Everything is so good. But, the poblano soup is so amazing that I have always had a hard time not ordering that. I got the soup with half chicken salad sandwich and it was (as my daughter says) sooo happy making. I will not visit SA without a lunch at Picknikins. It’s a great place.
