I’m not a picky person at all — my philosophy is simple: if I go to McDonald’s, I expect McDonald’s level. For a regular lunch spot like Pickups Pizza in Edwards, I expected at least a decent, straightforward meal. Unfortunately, it wasn’t even close.
Portions were shockingly small. My sandwich was barely filled, more bread than anything else, and definitely not worth the price. The value for what you get is honestly disappointing. On top of that, the service was practically nonexistent. No attention, no engagement, nothing to make the experience even slightly better.
It makes sense why the place was completely empty. Sadly, I won’t be returning — not worth a single dime.

East coaster so know my pizza (even though this is Detroit style). I’m frugal and normally won’t spend 30 bucks on a pizza anywhere else in the valley but I will from Pickups. It’s now actually the only pizza I buy and worth the roundtrip drive from Avon to Edwards. They use high quality ingredients and not your typical standard list of toppings (kale, cherry hot peppers, goat cheese, whole cloves of roasted garlic, yes please). Salty pizza is amazing but this pizza isn’t salty which is actually special in its own way. It allows you to taste the ingredients moreso in their natural form vs with the salt cheat code. Again this isn’t your typical salty deep dish pizza and you will not get cheese and sauce in every bite. Veggies are way cheaper than meat and is obvious they are more generous with vegetarian toppings than meat toppings which is fine by me making it “healthier”. They use lots of restraint with the salt. Sausage is always a must for me on a pizza (unless gyro meat is an option) And their homemade sausage is quite good and again not salty but somehow has flavor. I believe they use raw hard olives, and not soft ones that have been swimming in salty brine. Sauce is always key and this one hits and complements the rest of the ingredients. It tastes like tomatoes with a hint of sweetness. My few critiques would be for the roasted onions to be more caramelized and sweetened, a little more cheese, and for a little more sauce around the edges of the pizza or charge 50c for extra sauce and not $2 like a topping. But yeah otherwise I’m still a happy camper.
So far the pizza has been consistent when ordering just 1 large. On one occasion ordering in massive amounts for a party the quality/consistency did go down some but I wasn’t mad. The specialty pizzas like the Uptruck and Oh-Kale-No (My go to) are loaded with toppings. Tonight the pizza was so loaded I had to write a review as I was much pleased.
A bit pricey but we live in Vail and again you pay for the quality and consistency. The price is still justified for what you get so I hope prices dont creep up like everything else.
By no means is this close to the greatest pizza I’ve ever had but this is Vail where food is “meh” and overpriced so I’ll give praise for something decent that leaves me satisfied. I 100% support what the owners of Pickups are doing here. One can tell they are putting out a product they are proud of and not just charging an arm and a leg for low quality/tasting food to feed the masses of one and done tourists like some other restaurants do in the area. This is a genuine, authentic locals joint. Keep up the quality and keep the prices where they’re at PLEASE! If they go any higher though I will probably have to pass.
Guy who rang my pizza out greeted me as “boss” so instantly gets a 5/5 on service.
(Photo is 3 out of 8 slices left sitting out after a few hours so not the best photo)

Not good at all! There are 2 giant strips on tomato sauce on the pizza. Crust is not crisp. Bad choice for us. Plus take out comes in a pizza bag.

I had dinner here twice. If I’m in town again, I will definitely make my way here again. I had 2 different pizza and while both were delicious, the second one hit it out of the park. I asked if it could overcooked just ever so slightly and the chef did it to perfection.
A customer came in and started joking with me that my take home portion looked so good the he wanted them if I didn’t Yeah, he was joking, but I’ve never had someone want my leftovers. It really was that good.
The pizza is Detroit, deep dish style. The tomato sauce tastes homemade with a zing you don’t find in canned or jarred sauce and the Italian sausage was delicious.
One small pizza is good for 2 meals, at least for me.
The service is top notch.

The pizza was good needed a little more flavor. It was good.
Hard when you are from Chicago.
Went off season.

We came to this place looking for quality taste pizza. Something different from your standard Pizza Chain restaurants.. but didnt get anything much different. We had a special order light sauce and well done. We got drenched sauce pizza along with not so crispy pizza. I called the place to let them know. All i got from the girl was ” i just clocked in , i didnt take your order” attitude. The manager called back and continue to say the pizza was done light sauce but look at the pictures yourself. As a family that travels alot we love to try new spots and leave awesome reviews. But this place is far from that. As travelers its not like we can go back and ask for a replacement. We lost out on our money, time and lunch. We ended up throwing away the second pizza. As the sauce was too much. We hate the extra sauce on a pizza. This is why we especifically asked the guy that took our order it was probably Mark that took it. And yet nothing was done to make the customer happy. Please reconsider this place as a stop for quality pizza. Your better off at a Pizza Hut to be honest. And also the cheap way they provide the pizza to the customer in a brown bag with barely any tin foil covering the pizza. So cheaply done for such a high priced pizza.

Love their pizza but their online ordering needs improvement. If you’re busy, pick up times need to be adjusted. Time for pick- 6:25 and as of writing this it’s 7:05 and still not ready

This was my go-to place after a hard day’s work. I would get their amazing pizzas, and cold beer. The wait staff, and bartenders, were really friendly and helpful, especially since I was new to the area. My time in that area was cut short but I would definitely try to stop in if I ever came back.
